This just published piece is one of the best papers I have read about neoliberal academia. Engaging not only intellectually but also emotionally and bodily. A story about middle-aged white male, an excellent scholar in academia, who produces thousand of high quality papers in best journals - papers relevant only to his career. Mr Sackker has a lot of feudal followers of course - those who believe that getting grants and publishing would make them great scholars. He is developing own research school by citing own publications and he even has time to publish aphorisms! Everyone wants to be like HIM! I think that many people in academia know such persons-workaholics admired by others who produce papers that have meaning only for ther careers and for the capitalist system of performance evaluation. But who think narcissistically that they are good scholars. Neoliberal academia makes such behaviours adiaphoric: beyond good and evil and beyond moral scrutiny. This story is also a very good mirror to reflect on myself: how far I follow mr Suckker career? #neoliberalacademia #excellentscholar
