Did you know? 🤔 Nigeria is one of the largest producers of cassava globally with over 60 million tonnes produced in 2024 (World Population Review, 2024). Cassava is a major source of various delicacies in various cultures in Nigeria such as Garri, fufu, African salad, Dan wake, Amala among others. On today’s episode of #FridayFarmFeature we are highlighting a thriving cassava farm in Iporo community. We had previously shared highlights on freshly harvested cassava but today we would be discussing its plantation. Cassava is a tropical root crop with starchy roots and planted in almost all parts of Nigeria. Cassava plants are composed of water and carbohydrates which are usually harvested between seven to twelve months depending on its species and farming practices. Cassava is easy to cultivate and requires low agricultural input.
