Thanks to Gustaf Molander, I had the pleasure to meet Olov Schultz and his colleagues from Boverket this morning at the Permanent Representation of Sweden to the EU. This delegation of the Swedish National Board of Housing, Building and Planning was interested the links between the revised Construction Products Regulation, the inclusion of sustainability indicators, the associated Acquis process, and ongoing EU initiatives linked to circular construction and housing. More surprisingly, they shared the idea to stockpile construction products as a reserve for potential war damages to key infrastructure and buildings or to provide emergency shelters. This topic has not been discussed in EU construction circles but one that seems more advanced in some Nordic EU Member States. Should it grow in importance, it might be considered by the renewed European Commission that is already well-advanced in its rebuild Ukraine plans, by a Nordic Member of the European Parliament, or by an upcoming Presidency of the Council of the EU. Jenny Svärd any thoughts? Thank you again for the opportunity to exchange on such crucial topics. #sustainableconstruction #circularconstruction

🟢 The Australian Constructors Association (#ACA) will hold a #construction industry forum ‘Foundations and Frontiers (FF24)’ on 8 August in #Sydney. 📄 #FF24 will address the #sustainability of the industry, collectively pave the way forward and commit to changes that will secure the industry’s future. “Much like COP and the World Economic Forum, FF24 will provide a unique platform for all construction stakeholders to address the sustainability of the industry, collectively pave the way forward and commit to changes that will secure the industry’s future,” said Mr Davies. “Invitations have already gone out to over 100 of the most influential leaders in government, industry, unions and academia. They will be part of exclusive discussions in breakout rooms, which it is hoped will spark a series of major industry announcements. “This event isn’t just for leaders. All of the industry will have the opportunity to see and be involved through the plenary sessions with exposure to the exclusive breakout room discussions.” Click here to read more 👉 https://lnkd.in/ge-2sfeE #Australia #engineering #consultanz #constructionindustry #civilengineering #constructionjobs

St Albans Local Plan Update The draft Regulation 19 (Submission Version) Local Plan is heading to committee on Monday 23rd September, and can be found here: https://lnkd.in/e3XR-kUE The Plan, which seeks to replace the last adopted Plan from 1994 (when I was younger than my children are now!!), proposes significant Green Belt release in order to meet its full standard method requirement. The speeding up of this long-long-overdue Plan is very welcomed and a positive consequence of the 'threat' of an increased standard method as proposed in the recent Government consultation (which would see St Albans requirement jump from 885dpa to 1,544dpa).

Energy-efficiency is the bedrock for a climate-neutral and cost-effective future. It is not only a prerequisite for an affordable building sector avoiding long-term increase of heating costs. High performance insulation also enable slim building construction for additional and affordable living space. That’s why energy efficiency must become Europe’s primary fuel!
📢Together with Eurima (European Insulation Manufacturers Association) and other associations we have submitted a joint letter addressing the critical need for affordable housing across the European Union. To support the effort against the climate crisis, we have provided insights and recommendations to the European Commission, with a view to the recently announced European Affordable Housing Plan. Together, we can pave the way for a more sustainable and equitable future for all Europeans. 🌍 Check out the joint letter below 👇 Eurogypsum Glass for Europe Housing Europe PU Europe EPPA - The European PVC Window Profiles and related Building Products Association eu.bac EAE | European Association for External Thermal Insulation Composite Systems (ETICS) European Commission Ursula von der Leyen Peter Van Kemseke Ruth Reichstein Katharina Knapton-Vierlich

The MOA aims to provide a framework for partnership agreement among MARINA, French Embassy and OCEA for purposes of providing an assessment of the Philippine shipbuilding and ship repair industry in terms of policies, incentives implemented and planned by the Philippines to support the sector. During the ceremony, MARINA Administrator Sonia Malaluan said that the peer review is very essential and it could support various developmental projects and plans for the SBSR industry, as aligned with Maritime Industry Development Plan (MIDP) 2028. She also said that the outcome of the assessment will be useful for legislators and other maritime stakeholders to have a better understanding of the current situation in the country's SBSR industry. The Administrator emphasized that the Philippines needs an enabling law to harness the big potential of shipbuilding and ship repair in the country. The MARINA has been pushing for the passage of the SBSR Development Bill in Congress. Meanwhile, French Embassy to the Philippines Chief of the Economic Service Alain Fontanel is looking forward for the different activities under the peer review while OCEA Country Director Jacques Briand mentioned that this development shows the commitment of their company to the development objectives of the Philippines. 🚢 Interesting parliamentary question to the European Commission regarding the imperative support for the European shipbuilding industry amidst growing concerns of unfair competition from China 🇨🇳. ➡️https://lnkd.in/ebXPsPty ⚠️ Although the question is rough on the European Green Deal, it raises real concerns about risks of competitive disadvantage for the European industry. 🌱⛴️The green transition is a great business opportunity for the shipbuilding industry with the development of a new generation of clean ships. However, the question is whether it will be a business case for European shipyards or a gift to their foreign (Asian) competitors. 🚨⚓️ ❓️Let's see what the European Commission will reply...
