Calcineurin inhibitors promote chronic alloimmunity via propagation of central memory T cell subsets DOI: 10.1016/j.ajt.2024.11.020 AJT November 22, 2024 CNIs have been the standard of care in kidney, heart, lung, and liver transplantation for the past 4 decades, but new evidence suggests that although CNIs are effective at attenuating acute alloimmune responses, they may in fact be implicated in the pathogenesis of chronic alloimmunity—a scourge that continues to affect SOT recipients

Critical review (DOI: 10.1016/j.hbpd.2024.01.003) suggests liver transplantation could serve as an alternative treatment for certain patients with peri-hilar cholangiocarcinoma, offering potentially better long-term survival compared to chemotherapy. Eligibility for liver resection or transplantation requires careful patient selection and should be performed at specialized centers, emphasizing a multidisciplinary approach to treatment. #LiverCancer #Transplantation #SurgicalOncology #PatientCare #ClinicalPractice

According to the latest results presented at #ESMOGI24, liver transplantation alongside chemotherapy shows remarkable results in a highly selected patient population with unresectable colorectal liver metastases. The TRANSMET trial reveals that this approach could quadruple the 5-year overall survival rate compared to chemotherapy alone.
