Today is #WorldFisheriesDay 🐟 #Aquaculture is part of the solution to decrease the pressure of fishing in our oceans, lakes and rivers 🌊 . In Aquaculture, modern breeding strategies focus on creating healthier and more resilient aquatic populations for food production and to help restore endangered species. These programs cover a wide range of systems (like ponds, tanks, and sea pens) and species, including fish, shellfish, and algae. 🦐 🐚 Through #CodeEFABAR, aquaculture breeders showcase their commitment to responsible and balanced breeding of aquatic farm animals. 🎣 💡 Find out more about Code EFABAR and download our aquaculture species-specific template here 👉 https://lnkd.in/e9cc8iBd

My first aquaculture career late 1990s wasn't a specific employment choice, neither was it a climate concern. I was young and in student loan debt, as our government wasn't so flexible with indigenous people at the time. Nowadays at an age of experience I can state this: there is no such event in life called coincidence, everything is for a purpose and you may not know it from the beginning. Synchronicity or life events happen for good reason, in time it will unfold and manifest into a reality that far exceeds anyone's expectations. Be good at something and master it. I could grow oysters.. Now, not only I can produce food in brackish waters, ocean waters, freshwater and land regenerative agriculture. I can generate sustainable energy, supply renewable biogas energy crops, biohydrogen and superficial co2 power-grid supply. Obviously this is done at small scale, but still feeling out my potentials 🫡 #OysterFarming
Calling all east coast oyster aquaculturists! We teamed up with NOAA Fisheries to create a nutrient removal calculator that provides a science-based estimate of how much nitrogen oyster farms remove from local waterways. 🦪 Generate your own report that can be used in the aquaculture permitting process → https://lnkd.in/eattUgfC #Aquaculture #SeafoodMonth

Production biology in salmon directly relates to health and welfare, growth optimisation, feeding and nutrition. Many #aquaculture industries are beginning to incorporate advanced remote sensing technology into their operations to allow for real-time monitoring of stock. Our latest project led by Scott Hadley, University of Tasmania will develop models for quantifying aquaculture production (specifically salmon, macroalgae and oysters) in high-energy coastal waters. This will include developing hydroacoustic methods to measure production in-situ, track fish location and examine their behaviour such feeding and predator interactions. Bringing together expertise from project partners BMT CSIRO Echoview Software Petuna Aquaculture Department of Natural Resources and Environment Tasmania (NRE Tas) Tassal Group FRDC - Fisheries Research and Development Corporation and Tasmanian Oyster Company Limited this project will be highly applicable to potential future #offshoreaquaculture operations.
