Have you checked out EFNA's EU Elections Toolkit? It's a comprehensive resource designed to empower patient advocates and advocacy groups ahead of the upcoming #EUelections in June. The toolkit provides a range of valuable assets, including template letters to candidate MEPs, key messages, and pre-prepared social media posts. These assets are available in 9 languages, with more available on request. EFNA encourages patient advocates, advocacy groups, and individuals across Europe to make full use of the EU Elections Toolkit. 💪🏾Empowering communities through RH advocacy aligns seamlessly with celebrating this year’s World Logic Day in Kenya 🇰🇪. By promoting critical thinking skills based on the effective application of logic 💭, we empower both the public to actively seek out care earlier and healthcare providers with better capacity to provide optimal reproductive health care. 💡It would also empower policy makers to ensure that systems are better empowered to enable better resource allocation for quality care. This is a logical and powerful three-pronged investment at patient, provider and policy-maker levels 🔥🌟. Critical thinking fosters informed decision-making 🧠, ensuring that individuals are equipped to navigate complex healthcare choices 🧮. This would contribute to a society where effective application of knowledge becomes a powerful tool for RH process and outcome optimization 🧰. Some important areas in which logic plays a critical role in RH include 🤓: Understanding the menstrual cycle; Appreciating how fibroids adversely affect RH; Learning about how to enhance the safety of pregnancy through patient-driven monitoring; Empowering pregnant mothers to have workable birthing plans; Learning about the stages of an IVF cycle; and Appreciating the various ways of preventing and treating cancers, just to name a few Together, we can create a world where every decision is made with clarity and consideration 🛜. Acquiring and applying critical thinking skills is not just an investment in oneself but a commitment to a healthier, more informed future for ourselves and for those that will come after us. Join forces with Paul Koigi and Angela Anzeze to ensure optimized Reproductive Health outcomes! 💙 #drpaulkoigi #dranzeze #worldlogicday #rhadvocacy #kenya #health #optimizingrhoutcomes #logic #criticalthinking https://lnkd.in/dtJhcinq

I am very proud to share that AcademyHealth now has a set of resources to inform health services researchers about the questions that need to be answered to fully understand the impact of the #Dobbs decision on #reproductive health, #equity, and #society. This research agenda was developed during an invitational workshop in November, supported by The Commonwealth Fund, involving approximately 80 members of the reproductive health and health services research communities, including community-based organizations, advocates, and funders. The research agenda includes considerations for centering equity in the conduct of this research and organizes the research topics into six domains: 📍 Access, availability, and safety of abortion services. 📍 Other reproductive health care, including maternal and perinatal care and outcomes. 📍 Non-reproductive health care and outcomes, including mental and behavioral health, disability, and chronic disease. 📍 Health care workforce implications, including training impacts, reproductive health deserts, and clinician burnout. 📍 Care financing and delivery issues, including Medicaid, safety-net providers such as federally qualified health centers, and data privacy. 📍 Broader societal impacts, including employment, education, and poverty. Several related resources are now available: 📍 A summary of the report: https://lnkd.in/eXNAWdEu 📍 The full report: https://lnkd.in/eXNAWdEu 📍 The recording of the webinar we held on March 6: https://lnkd.in/e3kWzF6M 📍 A blog containing the powerful remarks by Dr. Monica R. McLemore at the webinar: https://lnkd.in/egAJtcEP Now I hope the #HSR community steps up and helps document all that is happening to health and equity due to the Dobbs decision.

Interested in #HealthPromotion and #Prevention. Understanding the context of #HealthInformation is ever more crucial. Important messages here.
Social, Commercial and Information Determinants of Health | Digital Public Health } Health Misinformation
I wrote recently about how people's health information diet is driven in part by our trust in technology. Tech platforms and services can misdirect and mislead people when they are searching for health information. (Read more here: https://lnkd.in/dvn_tWjB) Some examples I discussed in the article: 🌺 a location service like Google Maps directing people who search for abortion clinics to so-called crisis pregnancy centers that actually advocate against abortion 🌺 virtual assistants at home provide low quality advice on first aid emergency information 🌺 users of Meta and Google platforms are accessing and "seeing" different reproductive health information depending on where in the world they live And here's the latest one: 🌺 an event management and ticketing website promoted listings for illegal sales of prescription drugs alongside addiction recovery events that were being organized through the platform. Read more on WIRED website: https://lnkd.in/d3qz6_GE It's another example of how what people experience in relation to health information differs from assumptions of health programmes that are working on specific health topics. It's also why I keep repeating that relying on message crafting and dissemination alone is insufficient to promote demand for health services and products or adherence to health guidance. In public health, we need to get better at: 🍏 assessing the information environment related to health topics and communities of focus 🍏 assessing risk and mitigating harm in high-risk communities in health topics that most impact them 🍏 complementing individual and community-level strategies with those at health system, societal, and platform levels.

For Day 15 of my Breakthrough ACTION Advent Calendar, I’m highlighting another #advocacy resource developed by by #SRH team: Engaging Men as Contraceptive Users. #Vasectomy is one of the most cost-effective methods of contraception but it is dramatically under-utilized, accounting for only 1.2% of contraceptive use in #LMIC countries. When countries have invested in vasectomy, uptake has been strong. Vasectomy can contribute to improving #genderequality and expanding #methodchoice. This tool provides compelling presentation content that makes it easy to advocate for vasectomy with key stakeholders. Used in conjunction with the Breakthrough ACTION Vasectomy Message Framework (also available in the link below), advocates can hone in on a key message and select content from the presentation accordingly, with some case studies to back it up! My thanks for this work go to the amazing Olivia Carlson, with support from Jennifer Boyle, Arzum Ciloglu and Dominick Shattuck, PhD. https://lnkd.in/eVQhc4vN #socialandbehaviorchange #SRH #familyplanning #advocacy #methodchoice #contraception USAID | Johns Hopkins Center for Communication Programs

March may be Women’s History month, but the recent events in Alabama were not any cause for celebration. They represented an attack on women’s and all reproductive health, as well as a major setback for inclusive and quality-driven patient-centered care. The need for ongoing advocacy is a must. Today, 23rd May on the "International Day to End Obstetric Fistula" , let's raise awareness about this devastating childbirth injury that affects millions of women worldwide, especially in low-resource setting. Obstetric fistula is a hole between the birth canal and bladder or rectum caused by prolonged, obstructed labor without access to timely medical treatment. It leads to chronic incontinence, infections, and social isolation. An estimated 2 million women live with obstetric fistula, with 100,000 new cases occurring each year, mostly in sub-Saharan Africa and Asia. This preventable condition is a human rights issue, denying women the right to health and dignity. Access to quality maternal healthcare, skilled birth attendants, and emergency obstetric care can prevent and treat obstetric fistula. On this day, let's amplify the call for intensified resource mobilization, community engagement, and advocacy for universal access to sexual and reproductive health services to end fistula within a generation. Together, we can ensure every woman has access to quality maternal healthcare and lives a life of dignity. #EndObstetricFistula, #MaternalHealth, #IDEOF

Bayer welcomes the Federal Government’s continued commitment to improving women’s healthcare, with the commitment of $5.2 million to support placement costs for health practitioners, including those in regional and remote areas, to undertake training in long-acting reversible contraceptive (LARC) insertion and removal – as announced in yesterday's Federal Budget. 👏 Both the National Women’s Health Strategy and the current Senate Inquiry into Reproductive Healthcare emphasised the essential role of LARCs in improving women’s health, social and economic outcomes. However as it stands, Australia is behind other OECD countries in its uptake due to a range of access barriers. Bayer commends the government for taking steps to improve access to LARC. We remain committed to working with the government, industry organisations and healthcare professionals to help remove roadblocks so that Australian women have access to reproductive healthcare that rivals the best in the world. For more information about LARC access in Australia, read this article on Women's Agenda: https://lnkd.in/gdFkMVBc #contraception #reproductiverights #federalbudget2024 #womenshealth #bayer Deborah Bateson Bayer Australia Ltd Pymble, COR-PF-WHC-AU-0006-1 – May 2024

Access to accurate, evidence-based information about sexual and reproductive healthcare is crucial. While the best way to receive medically accurate information is to consult a healthcare professional, there are reputable, unbiased online resources as well, like Power to Decide and the new #AskDrRaegan initiative.
