The month is coming to an end, which means it's time to highlight the communications activity in my personal opinion was the best recently 🤔 And this time all praise, admiration and respect goes to Lithuanian Airports ✈ and their communication in all areas. Bravo 👏 1️⃣ Lithuanian Airports is one of the few Lithuanian companies with which communication on the “route” journalist 🗞️ - press officer 🎙 is always 100/100 💯 And Tadas Vasiliauskas is a person who will always operatively answer any questions (and sometimes they are really different 🤓), will take colleagues for a walk 📸 through places where people cannot access yet (the new terminal) and will not only refer to the problem, but will contribute to its solution 💡 2️⃣ Communication with travelers 🧳 a.k.a. people. Tips, FAQs, changes at the airport, an update on the construction of the new terminal - all of this information is not only on the website and in the press, but also on social media 📱 No secrets or subtext. This is how communication on the passenger-airport “route” is supposed to look like. Clearly, understandably and succinctly 😁 3️⃣ “Construction may begin in the second quarter of 2026” or “a tender is currently underway, then the technical project will be drawn up, and as soon as possible after that, construction work will begin” - these are phrases that I personally have NEVER ❌ heard from people working in Lithuanian Airports communications. There is no room for abstractions here. Concrete facts and exact dates, so that today no one has to ask “so when is the opening” anymore 📅 Because the opening date of the new terminal is already there. And thanks to clear communication, we know that it won't change, as in the case of many Vilnius projects (hey, Nacionalinis stadionas) 😓 And this is how communication is supposed to look like on the “route” to happily reaching the goal 🛬 For my colleagues, I wish never to change the chosen direction of communication and only to grow 🥇 So that Vilnius will not only have new direct flight directions 🌍 but also good relations with the airport both with passengers, as well as journalists, investors and others 🖤 And here is an example of what communication should look like. Let’s briefly talk about Communications in Mauritius! 🌟 For those who don’t know me, I am 31-year-old communications enthusiast with a background in media and communications. Having studied Mass Communications and Web Media at Curtin University, I've been fortunate to explore various facets of the industry. Since 2016, I've been running a copywriting agency, working as a radio host, news presenter, journalist, and project manager at a communications agency. My unconventional approach has led me to manage French Wave, the Mauritian branch of a French production company, and now, I proudly head OneTV. Through my journey, I've connected with incredible people across different sectors, expanding my knowledge and network. This experience has given me a unique perspective on the communications landscape in Mauritius. While communications in Mauritius is vibrant, it faces several challenges. The island's strategic location and multilingual population provide a unique advantage, but the industry needs to overcome hurdles such as limited technological infrastructure, regulatory constraints, and a need for more localized content. While internet penetration is improving, the speed and reliability of connections can still be a barrier. This impacts content delivery and the adoption of new media technologies. The sector is heavily regulated, which can stifle innovation and flexibility. Navigating these regulations requires a strategic approach and often, creative solutions. There's a growing demand for content that resonates with the local audience. While global content is accessible, creating and promoting local narratives is essential for cultural preservation and engagement. 💡 Recommendations? 💡 Investment in Technology: To stay competitive, significant investment in upgrading internet infrastructure and adopting new technologies is crucial. This will enhance content delivery and accessibility. Implementing the use of artificial intelligence shouldn’t be feared. Don’t think of it as a replacement of human talent, but as a tool that can amplify the human effort. Regulatory Reforms: Advocating for more flexible regulations that encourage innovation and entrepreneurship in the communications sector can drive growth and diversification. Promoting Local Content: Encouraging local content production through grants, collaborations, and training can boost the industry. Highlighting local stories and talents will foster a stronger connection with the audience. Let's continue to push the boundaries and embrace the opportunities ahead. I launched an initiative supported by the FERPI - Federazione Relazioni Pubbliche Italiana with the aim of signing the "Roman Green Communication Declaration". We are witnessing numerous global initiatives, from binding ones such as the Paris Agreement to the very beginnings founded by the United Nations through the guidelines and goals of sustainable development. Although employees in the communications sector are not perceived as an industry, all those who deal with communications or, more precisely, public relations, represent a key industry that takes care of creating a reputation on a daily basis, and all of this is part of change management. Employees in the communication industry in all organizations in public relations departments and sectors from private sector corporations, agencies and NGO sectors have a great responsibility, especially after the introduction of environment, social and governance (ESG) new guidelines. Regardless of which team of experts works on green communication policies and projects within the department and collaborates with marketing departments, marketing agencies, graphic designers and those for creating digital perception, everything ultimately starts and ends with communication messages and public relations. The goal of this declaration will be guidelines that should further strengthen the transformation of green policy so that all industries understand the importance and responsibility of public relations and their roles. What are the lessons learnt from the UN Ocean Decade #OceanComms Symposium? The official #OceanDecade24 satellite event, which gathered 53 carefully selected communicators from 26 countries, was centered around the key question ‘How can we more effectively use strategic communications to achieve action for the ocean?’ We put together findings in our Insight Analysis Paper (available in English, French, Spanish and Portuguese) analysing the actions, solutions and opportunities discussed during the 5 sessions for the Advancing Strategic Ocean Communication project. https://lnkd.in/e5i-ipmx #OceanCommunications #OceanClimateAction

Having worked on several Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe projects, I have noticed that many people have difficulties grasping the concepts of communication, dissemination, and exploitation. Indeed, these concepts can be confusing, especially for projects that do not intend to bring new products to the market but rather focus on governance and policy results. In these projects, communication, dissemination, and exploitation often overlap. Here is an infographic that I find useful while navigating these terms when writing proposals and comms, dissemination ans exploitation plans.
