▶️ Another data migration project safely delivered on time and on budget – on this occasion for South Yorkshire Police as they move to a new Oracle Fusion ERP system. This has been a lengthy and complex programme, involving the migration of more than 1.4m financial, procurement, HR and payroll records. We are so proud of our team for their efforts maintaining our trademark success rates (99.9% load accuracy) with the highest-possible data quality achieved. All of which lays a solid foundation for SYP as they start to realise the benefits from their new Enterprise Resource Planning solution. By replacing a number of disparate, legacy systems, removing duplication of effort and introducing self-service for employees the force will be able to maximise efficiency and productivity of both support staff and front-line officers, whilst also improving their working lives. 👏 Congratulations to everyone involved. This was a real team effort, involving true collaboration throughout. Thanks also to Jacqueline Bland for her kind words. It was a pleasure working with you and the SYP team.

After companies implement enterprise resource planning systems, many lack the internal talent to sufficiently manage and support them. That’s why businesses are increasingly turning to third-party application management services (AMS). The AMS market is projected to reach nearly $95 billion by 2030. AMS providers specialize in value-added activities such as ongoing functional enhancements, technical innovation, and process improvements. And that’s attractive to companies looking to mitigate system risks, improve system performance, and boost ERP ROI. So how can accounting and finance professionals maintain a strong relationship with AMS providers? Read our Strategic Finance article by @BobBucy and @MarianneBradford who surveyed 70 professionals on their AMS experiences: https://bit.ly/3z8WKN6 #finance #ERP #AMS

Yet another perfect example of why calling in actual experts at the very start of an ERP procurement project is key. Personally, I'm not bothered about the software but I am passionate about how local govt's procurement rules allow for these, very costly, mistakes to happen time after time after time... 2.6m to 40m is just ridiculous! And the most ironic bit about all this is that they'll probably use the very same procurement process/rules to bring in the replacement SI or software 🤦♂️ #phase3 #systemselection #ERP

Rillet recently partnered with Secret CFO to share 9 tips on how to avoid an ERP implementation disaster. 1) Over-invest in master data quality: Getting ‘squeaky clean’ master data before the ERP rollout starts will pay dividends. If you assume you can fix this problem during the roll-out itself you have no chance. 2) Put your best people on the project (and backfill): The best ERP rollouts we’ve seen take the top middle managers in the business out of their day jobs, backfill them, and move them onto the ERP project. 3) The system won’t fix the culture: ERPs rely on a good culture of compliance with systems. Some businesses just aren’t mature enough for that. So wait until you are, before you start fiddling with systems. And, oh yes, there’s more. Check out the blog in the comments for tips 4 through 9 👀

ERP Implementation Best Practices: Navigating Deadlines, Data, and Stakeholder Communication: Implementing an ERP system is always challenging, especially when it comes to meeting deadlines and ensuring the completeness and accuracy of legacy data. Any delay can disrupt ongoing operations, as it’s often the existing team responsible for inputting this data into the new system. I recall working on the Oracle R12 project, where constant communication with stakeholders, end users, and project consultants was essential to close the requirement gaps and provide a well-rounded solution. Of course, the guidance and leadership from supervisors play a crucial role, making the task feel more manageable and keeping the team motivated to achieve the best results. Implementing an ERP system can be challenging, but with the right approach, it becomes more manageable. Here are some tips for effective ERP management: 💡 Set Clear Deadlines and Expectations: Timelines are critical. Establish realistic deadlines and communicate them to everyone involved to prevent disruptions in current operations. 💡 Ensure Legacy Data Completeness and Accuracy: Legacy data is foundational for a smooth transition. Designate dedicated resources to validate and input this data accurately to avoid issues in the new system. 💡 Engage in Continuous Stakeholder Communication: Regular interaction with stakeholders, end users, and consultants helps bridge requirement gaps and aligns expectations, ensuring the solution meets everyone’s needs. 💡 Leverage Supervisor Guidance and Leadership: Supervisors play a key role in steering the project. Their support and motivation help maintain team morale, simplify complex tasks, and drive optimal results. 💡 Empower Existing Staff with Clear Roles: When current staff are involved in data management, ensure they have clearly defined responsibilities and access to resources to carry out their tasks effectively. #ERP #ORACLE #Leadership #motivation #corporate #organization #implementation #project

#3. Involve Key Stakeholders Early. Get buy-in from top management to ensure commitment and funding. Cross-functional team: Involve key people from various departments (finance, HR, operations, IT, etc.) in the planning and selection process. Their input will help ensure that the ERP meets the needs of all departments. User representation: Include end-users in the process to understand how they work and how the ERP can best support their tasks.
