To reach our climate goals, we need to massively reduce GHG emissions. But that unfortunately won’t be enough. For net zero, we also need to actively remove CO2 from the atmosphere. Equatic.tech powers the green economy by enabling progress on both. Equatic’s process of sea water electrolysis generates green hydrogen while at the same time sequestering atmospheric CO2 as mineral carbonate and bicarbonate, which will be locked in the sea essentially forever. It does not rely on geological sequestration of the captured CO2, and OpEx and CapEx are distributed over two products, allowing for very low cost. PUB, Singapore's National Water Agency, now decided to co-invest to build a facility based on Equatic’s marine carbon dioxide removal (mCDR) with a capacity of 3,500 tonnes of CDR per year. It will be the largest mCDR plant in the world. Equatic is super-proud to partner with PUB on this. #BernardKoh, Gurdev Singh, Gaurav N. Sant, Edward Sanders, #cdr #marinecdr

Singapore would be the place where removal of 110,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide per year (equivalent to the annual carbon emissions of more than 25,000 individuals) could become reality. Can't grasp the idea of one metric ton of #carbondioxide? Imagine a cube with the height, width and length each slightly more than 8 metres. (That's about the height of the famous Merlion statue overseeing the Marina Bay Area.) Now multiply the size of that cube by 10. That's how much space it would take to store 10 metric tons of #CO2. 🤔 When fully completed at PUB, Singapore's National Water Agency research and development facility in Tuas, the Equatic-1 by Equatic.tech will be able to remove 10 metric tons of carbon dioxide per day from seawater and the atmosphere. Not only that, this #innovative facility couples Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR) with hydrogen production, introducing a groundbreaking approach to generate Carbon-Negative Hydrogen. The CO2 mineralization process converts dissolved and atmospheric carbon dioxide into the form of solid calcium and magnesium-based materials for at least 10,000 years 𝙒𝙚 𝙘𝙤𝙪𝙡𝙙 𝙨𝙚𝙚 𝙖 𝙣𝙚𝙬 𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙡𝙙 𝙤𝙛 𝙗𝙪𝙞𝙡𝙙𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙢𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙖𝙡𝙨 𝙜𝙚𝙣𝙚𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙙 𝙛𝙧𝙤𝙢 𝙬𝙖𝙨𝙩𝙚! Equatic plans to launch a commercial plant designed to capture nearly 110,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide per year — equivalent to the annual carbon emissions of more than 25,000 individuals. Kudos to this breakthrough offering of a #sustainable solution to our climate crisis! https://lnkd.in/g2quP86k

Pleased to announce that I will be presenting the Biomethane Industrial Partnership (BIP) report entitled "Cost Optimization of Biomethane Grid Injection" at 2nd Polish Biomethane Organization Forum, in Warsaw, on 10th of September. The report was prepared by BIP Task Force 4.4, which I had the honour to lead. The Forum will be opened by Mrs. Kadri Simson, EU Energy Commissioner. The report covers aspects such as the development of the regulatory framework and the cooperation between grid operators to increase biomethane reception capacity, and opportunities to optimize costs of biomethane plant’s connection to the gas grid. Biomethane injection into the gas grid is a crucial component of the European Union’s transition to a sustainable energy system. Biomethane, as a renewable alternative to fossil gas, plays a vital role in achieving the EU’s clean energy objectives as outlined in the European Green Deal and the REPowerEU Plan, which targets an annual production of 35 billion cubic meters of biomethane by 2030.
