🔔 Dear safety professionals! How do you classify safety-relevant incidents? 🔔 In my opinion, the ARMS method provides a solid foundation. Here's a brief overview of how it works in airport safety management: The ARMS (Aviation Risk Management System) method is a proactive approach to identifying, assessing and mitigating risks in aviation operations to enhance safety. The method is based on a risk matrix that assesses risks according to their probability and potential damage. The matrix is divided into different categories, e.g. low, medium and high risk for both dimensions. Based on this matrix, risks are identified, assessed and prioritised in order to take appropriate risk mitigation measures. It can also help in decision-making by showing which risks need to be addressed most urgently. ✈︎ What method do you use? Do you use ARMS as a guide or do you stick strictly to the model? #safety #airport #arms #erc #easa #matrix Photo source: EASA Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2021/2082 ANNEX Conversion procedures from the Risk Analysis Tool (RAT) and Aviation Risk Management Solutions — Event Risk Classification (ARMS-ERC) scores into the European Risk Classification Scheme (ERCS) scores

EASA - European Union Aviation Safety Agency is calling interested parties to join the online technical workshop on Assessment of Impact of #Security Measures on #Safety which will be the 2nd workshop. The general objective of this project is to understand the nature and extent of the interdependencies between safety and security, to assess the impact of security measures on safety. In the medium term, safety risk management techniques that can be applied to security will produce harmonised risk assessment methods and support integrated policy and decision-making processes at national and #EU level. #aviation #aviationindustry #aviationsafety #aviationsecurity https://lnkd.in/g-ZDYjr5

Any movement starts with a push. In AVSEC, threat and risk assessments push policy development, which then feeds implementation. Safeguarding international civil aviation against acts of unlawful interference starts here. #AVSEC #ICAO

Today, representing FoxATM, I attend a Fatigue Risk Management conference in Vienna, hosted by Austro Control, organized by EASA - European Union Aviation Safety Agency. Some insightful information is provided, a lot to take home and work on in the future of a safe and happy aviation industry, ATM, together with safe and happy (well rested and prepared for a shift) ATCOs. Thank you for speaking out loud, thank you to the companies which work on the programs, reporting systems for the sake of people, not only for “a tick in a box”. Let me know in the comments - what you think, what you experience?

ICAO Week in Kazakhstan ICAO Regional Seminar on Risk Assessment for Civil Aircraft Operations Over or Near Conflict Zones Today, ICAO Week started in Almaty with an international seminar dedicated to topical issues of aviation security and risk management for civil aircraft flights in or near conflict zones. The event was organized by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), the Safer Skies Consultative Committee (SSCC) and the aviation authorities of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The seminar brings together the world's leading aviation security experts, civil aviation representatives from various countries, and representatives of airlines that regularly fly to politically unstable states. Participants will discuss a wide range of issues related to assessing and managing risks to civil aircraft flights over or near conflict zones. The sessions will focus on topical sessions such as: global and regional threat landscape, common approach to risk assessment - inter-agency cooperation, sharing of threat-related information, effective sharing of threat and risk information at regional and international level, aviation incidents related to conflict zones and lessons learned, perspectives on risk management in international and regional conflict zones, and discussion of current challenges. The seminar provides a unique platform for dialogue between representatives of states, international organizations, aviation authorities and airlines. Participants will be able to share their knowledge and experience, discuss current challenges and develop joint solutions to improve flight safety in conflict zones. Working together will improve civil aviation security both regionally and globally, contributing to a safer and more sustainable air transportation system.
