A while back, I had the pleasure of leading an in-person workshop at LMU Klinikum München, where I guided attendees on using a structured reporting template for lung imaging used in the #BORN project of the Bayerisches Zentrum für Krebsforschung (BZKF). It’s great to see that the knowledge shared in this training is making an impact! This recent multi-center study led by Dr. Maurice Heimer reveals the impact of #StructuredReporting in staging non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) — and the results are remarkable! 💡 Improved TNM Classification Accuracy: Radiologists using structured reporting were significantly more accurate in classifying #TNM stages compared to those using free-text reporting, crucial for ensuring patients receive the best-suited care. 💡 Semi-Automated Classification: The structured reporting framework integrates a rule-based engine that translates SR annotations into TNM classifications, minimizing errors and saving valuable time. This study highlights strong evidence for SR’s benefits in #NSCLC staging, suggesting that wider adoption could drive more accurate, efficient cancer care. Want to learn more? Don’t miss Maurice’s talk at #RSNA2024! I’ll be in Chicago, too — let’s connect!
