Congratulations to our sister project, REEsilience, on the release of their captivating intro video! 🌟 As fellow advocates for a sustainable future, we at HARMONY are thrilled to see the progress being made in building a resilient supply chain for Rare Earth materials and products in Europe. Both HARMONY and REEsilience are #HorizonEU projects, aiming to strengthen Europe's magnetic rare earth supply chains. HARMONY focuses on developing and validating an innovative, green, and safe closed-loop recycling process of #rareearthelements from end-of-life permanent magnets. REEsilience is tackling the challenge of European import-dependency along the entire value chain of rare earth magnet materials. 🧲🌱 We both have common objectives and partners and are dedicated to revolutionizing the permanent magnet industry towards #resilience and #sustainability . As we celebrate this milestone, let's not forget the important work that lies ahead. 🌍Research and innovation for greater material output – with a smaller footprint The world is facing complex challenges that require us to think innovatively and behave differently. In a short timeframe, we need to transform our entire society. To make the transition to a sustainable society in time, individual action is not enough. It requires fundamental changes at all levels of social and technological systems across society. This is called system innovation and is why an initiative like Impact Innovation is needed! Swedish Metals & Minerals is one of five programs within Impact Innovation, Sweden's innovation investment of the 2030s. We are an industry-led program that brings the Swedish metal and mineral industries together with the research community and national funding agencies.   The program aims to increase and secure the supply of metals and minerals while reducing the planetary footprint of extraction and production. The European Commission has just greenlit a €1.26 billion investment via the European Innovation Council (EIC) for 2025, with a strong emphasis on lifting up emerging tech hubs across Europe. Through its Work Programme, the EIC aims to bridge funding gaps and support pioneering technologies to drive Europe forward under Horizon Europe. Highlights include: 🔹 Boosted Support for Widening Countries: Enhanced business acceleration services to power up tech growth across more regions in Europe, creating a truly inclusive innovation ecosystem. 🔹 STEP Scale-up Scheme: €300 million for scaling strategic tech with co-investment opportunities. 🔹 EIC Pathfinder: €262 million to fuel early-stage research in breakthrough areas like resilient crops and autonomous robotics. 🔹 EIC Accelerator: €634 million for start-ups and SMEs to commercialize and expand in fields like AI and sustainable mobility. 🔹 EIC Transition: €98 million to transform research into real-world solutions. 🌟 Representing Istanbul Technical University in #Paris at "#One #Night #to #Innovate" Hackathon: A Journey of Sustainability and Innovation in Entrepreneurship 🌟 Yesterday and today, I had the honor of representing Istanbul Technical University at the #One #Night #to #Innovate Hackathon, hosted in #Paris by the prestigious École nationale des ponts et chaussées in collaboration with FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg , ZHAW Zurich University of Applied Sciences, and Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna . This incredible event was part of the EELISA European University Network—a European alliance that unites universities to foster transdisciplinary education, innovation, and entrepreneurship aligned with sustainability goals. 🌍 The Challenge: With about 80 participants from diverse academic and cultural backgrounds, we formed groups and worked tirelessly—literally sleepless for one night from 10 PM to 07 AM—to develop an entrepreneurial idea addressing real-world sustainability challenges and specific SDGs. 💡 Our Project: #PlugShare : #EV Charging Infrastructure Acceleration Platform In my group, we tackled the growing demand for electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure with an innovative idea: Platform for #EV Charging Points Sharing: 1️⃣ A digital platform where private owners can share their underutilized charging points, fostering resource efficiency and wider access. 2️⃣ Crowd-Investment for Installation: Allow individuals or organizations to invest in #EV charging infrastructure—whether through land allocation or financial contributions—helping accelerate installations in high-demand areas. 3️⃣ Sustainability at the Core: By addressing #SDG7 (Affordable and Clean Energy) and #SDG12 (Responsible Production and Consumption), our project promotes eco-friendly transportation and inclusive urban development. ✨ Why This Matters: Events like these are more than competitions—they’re a testament to the power of collaboration and the impact of global networks like EELISA European University . 💬 Your Turn: What’s one sustainability challenge you’d solve in one night if you could?
