My family is usually a bit sad on Christmas day. Why? Because it’s the end of the holiday season, which is huge for us. We start with the Christmas movies and music on November 1st (I can hear you rolling your eyes). 🎄 Then comes the decorating the 1st or 2nd week of November. And there are many more traditions and activities in between. It may be silly or “too much” for some people... But we celebrate early because we enjoy the season together. 🥂 It’s about doing our favorite things, watching our favorite Christmas movies, and listening to amazing music. Together. It’s not just about the one day of Christmas. Do you see where I’m going with this? Hang in there. 👉 How many times have you focused too much on the destination and not enough on the journey? ❎ You set a goal for your business or life and get tunnel vision. ❎ You get frustrated that you’re not meeting your goals quickly enough. ❎ You’re set on getting to your destination without enjoying the journey. It’s a bad habit to get into - one that robs you of the joy and simple pleasures of every day. ❣ So, this is your reminder to take a deep breath and soak up every moment. You’ll never get this moment back. Do you tend to get tunnel vision and neglect the present moment? Let me know in the comments. P.S. Don’t try to change my mind by saying November 1st is too early 😉. I’ll continue to be me and do what I enjoy.
Wonderful reminder! - life is about savoring the journey, not just the destination. 🌟🎄
My dad died on Christmas Eve. It’s always a mixed bag for us, but you’re right. It’s about being present for all of it.
Celebrating the holidays is, to me, a very personal experience. You do you, and if November 1 is when you start. I respect that. We can celebrate the season together and enjoy the festivities and a time we come together. Of course, we want to savor the moment.
Yes! It's such a parallel to how we often approach goals- investing in the outcome & hoping it'll elicit a feeling/result, which disconnects us from our experiences
Taking the time to savor each step is so important in both business and life.
It's actually so wholesome Eilis ma'am! A 2 month celebration is what we say extracting the best quality of life
Sounds like pure bliss. I sometimes wish my fam went as hard with decorations & celebration 😂 I def ponder the future too much at times & forget to cherish the present. Gotta pull myself back to the moment. Thanks for the reminder Eilis :)
Beautiful reminder. Cherishing the journey makes every moment meaningful. 🎄
I love this perspective! It's so important to savor the journey and not just focus on the destination. I'm guilty of getting tunnel vision sometimes.
