Our new Joy report unpacks the emotion of joy and the various associations consumers have in their minds. We can overlay different categories onto our Joy Wheel to see how different types of joy are delivered. Home & Garden is highly associated with joy in the minds of consumers (3rd in our list behind Travel and TV streaming). Think B&Q, Homebase or Screwfix and the great adult pastime of pottering around in the garden or making improvements to your living space. What was really fascinating here was just how highly this category scored on two types of joy: Serenity (think: calmness, contentment, meaning) and Freedom (think: liberation, adventure, spontaneity). Being in our own space and improving it really does deliver these feelings. As a brand operating in the Home & Garden space, this offers up some interesting areas of thought. How much are we representing these joy associations in our comms? Can we own these category associations or should we look to stand out by building other joy associations? Are we focusing on the ‘wrong’ types of joy when we talk about our brand? Viewed through this lens, what associations are our competitors playing to? Is there an opportunity to combine different joy types (Serene Freedom?) to provide new meaning to consumers? All this and more in our new Joy report. If you are someone born in 80's, there is only one source of entertainment. The wednesday chitrahaar... Friday's chitralahari... Sunday's malgudi days to Jungle book to shakthimaan to chandrakantha that we fight with our cousins of different age group to watch our own favourite and change the playtime accordingly... The Sunday evening's Ramaayan and Mahabharat that your grand mother used to force you to sit and watch... Every kid remembers their own favorite show and the timings. It was pretty easy for them to prepare themselves to be there. It's very easy for parents to understand and accommodate why is that kid so restless to complete his breakfast/dinner/homework. We still had a fomo and the feeling of left out with the other cousin's Favorite shows. We all know the rainbow that's shown whenever there is a technical glitch. We had no option but to wait for the issue to be corrected. Being on top of people's mind was very easy for Door Darshan as an early bird. But once you have the competition in place, the amount of work needed to be on top of people's mind is very different. One technical glitch can now take your clients to your competitor while you are working hard to acquire a new client, learn their business problems, understand their people, systems and processes. Cost of Aquisition for a new client is much higher compared to client retention. You need to constantly upgrade yourself to serve the 𝗡𝗘𝗘𝗗𝗦 of your audience and clients. Working towards 𝗖𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗿 𝗗𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 is becoming extremely important to hold your existing audience and clients. PS: OfCourse working towards a customer delight who is not serving your needs is going to take up all your time and energy.
