Glazed office partition systems respond to the essential needs of today’s workplaces. Transparency, flexibility and ease of installation are important factors as is, often, the capability to integrate with existing constructions for adaptive re-use or renovation projects. Partitions with clean lines and thin profiles help to visually disintegrate the boundaries between interior programs, while they function to divide interior spaces among various uses or users. Key selection factors include the level of acoustic transmission. Several partition walls are able to meet acoustic insulation ratings capable of strong sound reduction between adjacent spaces. Another factor is ceiling height, and products today are often fabricated up to 3.6 meters in height or more. Swing, pivot, barn or reversible doors are among the options available. To achieve privacy, translucent glazing or double glazed systems with integral roller shades are available. Systems range in style from minimalist frameless, to thin-profile frames, to full frames with wood or colored aluminum to harmonize with interior space designs, curved walls for corner conditions, and even fire rated solutions. The most flexible products are often demountable to adapt to future change. info@partition-system.com

Interior Design of the Office for Copper Sales Company Initially, the two office units are integrated into a single, larger unit, with the entrance positioned between them. Separate lobbies are planned for each unit, with work spaces for employees arranged around these lobbies. Since the lobby is the first point of contact for customers and where they spend time, it has been designed to be both attractive and impressive. The management offices are located at the farthest point on the north side, offering the best view of the city. The secretary's office is adjacent to the administration, with assistants’ offices nearby. A key focus of the design is to emphasize fluidity, dynamics, and movement between the two lobbies. To achieve this, dynamic elements are incorporated into the design of the ceiling, walls, and floors. Additionally, the use of color and indoor greenery further enhances this sense of movement. The overall design aims to create a harmonious environment that promotes both functionality and aesthetic appeal.

Office Conversions: Solving Natural Light Challenges in Deep Floor Plans A major challenge in office-to-residential conversions is achieving adequate natural light for bedrooms and living spaces with the constraining proportions of typical office buildings. Many office buildings have large, deep floor plates, leaving interior spaces dim, dark and absent of daylight. A lot are also mid-block buildings leaving only the front and back walls with opportunities for light. Solutions like internal courtyards, light wells, and other layout amendments allow us to get light into dark corners of the building. These changes come with a large cost and must be weighed carefully with the structural engineer and design team. Wondering how to bring more light into your project? Message or email me at matt@leedesign.studio to discover the strategies Lee Design Studio uses to evaluate projects you are considering!

Understanding the Difference Between an Office Fit Out and an Office Refurbishment What is a Cat A Office Fit-Out? A Cat A (Category A) office fit-out involves the basic finishing of an interior space, typically ordered by a landlord. This process includes installing a building’s mechanical and electrical systems, resulting in a "blank canvas" office. While the space will have lighting, floors, and walls, it will be otherwise empty, requiring office furniture to become a functional workspace. Cat A fit-outs are ideal for those relocating, as they often already have the necessary furniture. What is a Cat B Office Fit-Out? A Cat B office fit-out differs from a Cat A fit-out by providing a fully finished space that is ready for immediate occupancy. While both types include lighting, flooring, and walls, a Cat B fit-out goes further by incorporating specific design elements tailored to the business's needs. This process involves working with architects and specialists to customize the interior, including partitions, ceiling design, staircases, furniture selection, and the final design of floors, walls, and doors to reflect the company's corporate culture and branding. #DeliveringExceptionalWorkspaces

When you have a part in making or building something, you see it differently... When the average person looks at an office building, their eyes will most likely will be drawn to the aesthetics of the space: The layout of the lobby, the decorative art in the hallways, and the overall “feel” of the place. They might even notice (consciously or otherwise) the more nuanced architectural features, such as the sleek glass panels lining a stairway, or the use of light and shadow to create a dynamic scene. In the construction industry, we tend to see buildings from the inside out. We look at what is holding everything up, and can see the supports hidden behind the walls and ceilings. Of course, we each specialize in our own thing: plumbers will see the pipes, electricians will see the hidden wires and conduits etc. But when we walk into a building that we’ve helped create…that’s a whole different experience. Sure, we still see the building from the inside out, but we also see the history of the building. We see things, not just as they are in the present, but as they were in development. We remember, and sometimes relive the various challenges we had to overcome, as well as the lessons we learned along the way. We see a hybrid space, partially consumed by the simple and refined exterior faccade, partially by the complex inner structure. We marvel at the craftsmanship put into the tiny details that nobody may ever notice. And in some small way, we are grateful for that. For the unique perspective of seeing what goes into the buildings and spaces others take for granted every day. Every office building, hotel, warehouse, airport, or other building we ever set foot in was built by teams of people with hundreds of stories. at Intermark, we are grateful for the opportunity to be part of those stories every day.
