#Battery /Cell A Battery (consisting of one or more electrochemical cells)is a device that converts chemical energy contained within its active materials directly into electric energy by means of an electrochemical oxidation-reduction reaction. Example -Alkaline, Nickel Metal Hydride (NiMH), and Lithium Ion etc... Now what is electrochemical ? the term consist of two terms electro and chemical.I.e electricity can be generated by movements of electrons from one element to another through a reaction known as redox or oxidation-reduction reaction. Oxidation - losing of electron in chemical reaction ,is called oxidation. Reduction - Gain of electron or can say accumulation of electrons during a reaction, is called reduction. Charging and discharging of Battery- An oxidation reaction occurs at the positive electrode and a reduction reaction occurs at the negative electrode by discharge. Intensified reactors for a paradigm shift in chemical processing: the case for spinning disc reactors To transition from the current linear method of #chemical_manufacturing to a more #sustainable and #circular approach, a paradigm shift in processing methods is essential. In this perspective article, we explore the potential role of the #spinning_disc_reactor (SDR) in shaping a future industry that relies on modular and distributed production methods. Three key areas are highlighted in particular: utilizing the reactor to intensify #thermochemical reactions, the application of the SDR for #separation processes, and the integration of alternative activation sources. In addition to reviewing recent advances in the field, we also provide a perspective on the ongoing as well as potential future research and development projects, which may help propel the SDR into a widely adopted industrial unit. The electrochemical parameters for evaluating their performance are discussed including output voltage, discharge capacity, C-rate, cycle stability, power, and energy density.
