California may offer own EV subsidies – and exclude Tesla As US President-elect Donald Trump is looking to cut the federal EV tax credit programme, which offered a 7,500-dollar incentive for the purchase of an electric car, California is looking to re-instate its own subsidy programme. But at least one carmaker would not benefit from the move. https://lnkd.in/eY9qK-eS

What happens if the EV tax credit disappears? For years, the $7,500 EV tax credit has been a driving force behind electric vehicle adoption, leveling the playing field for smaller automakers and giving consumers a financial incentive to go green. But what happens when that support vanishes? For Elon Musk and Tesla, the removal could be a blessing in disguise—exposing competitors’ reliance on subsidies while solidifying Tesla’s dominance in the market. But is it fair? Critics argue that ending the EV tax credit could cripple smaller EV manufacturers, slow innovation, and even jeopardize the global transition to clean energy. Should companies like Tesla, who claim they don’t rely on subsidies, thrive while others struggle to survive? Or is government support essential for an industry still in its growth phase? What do you think? Is it time to let the free market decide the future of EVs, or should policies like the EV tax credit stay in place to ensure a greener tomorrow? EV Tax Credits: Trump's transition team aims to kill the $7,500 EV tax credit. This could reshape the entire EV landscape: • Tesla surprisingly supports ending the subsidy • Legacy automakers like GM and Ford could face major hurdles • Chinese EV makers might be kept out of the US market The big question: Are we potentially sacrificing long-term gains for short-term savings? While the current EV credit certainly had its design flaws, eliminating the tax credit could start a domino effect of ceding territory to other countries. What's your take?

On his first day back in office, President Donald Trump revoked the U.S. electric vehicle (EV) target for 50% of new car sales to be zero-emission by 2030, citing it as a measure to save the auto industry and reduce costs for consumers. Supported by Tesla CEO Elon Musk, Trump also initiated efforts to revoke California's ban on new petrol vehicle sales from 2035, halted EV tax credits, and froze funding for EV charging infrastructure. Additionally, Trump re-withdrew the U.S. from the Paris climate agreement and imposed higher tariffs on Chinese-made vehicles as part of his "America First" trade policy. The move signals a major policy shift from the Biden administration, with potential impacts on global automakers and EV market growth. Read more: https://lnkd.in/gpEM9356
