Scientific patents have a higher mean value than non-scientific patents. For policy makers this highlights the social and private value of science-based innovations, even as many leading firms have withdrawn from scientific research. For researchers this implies the need for caution in estimating patent values based on how stock markets react to portfolios of patent grants received by a firm. As a physicist I find such publications very helpful for highlighting Research Integrity as "an issue for all scientists who should embrace the promotion of best practices in their own disciplines," as mentioned at the introduction. This time, we have a valuable perspective from Natural Sciences!

🌟 Highly Cited Paper Spotlight! 🌟 Synergistic Piezo-Photocatalysis of BiOCl/NaNbO₃ Heterojunction Piezoelectric Composite for High-Efficient Organic Pollutant Degradation By Li Li et al. The paper describes the synthesis of BiOCl/NaNbO₃ heterojunction piezoelectric composites with varying molar ratios using hydrothermal methods. These composites exhibit enhanced synergistic piezo-photocatalytic activity for the degradation of organic pollutants, specifically Rhodamine B, outperforming the individual components due to improved charge separation and transfer.
