Most people would tell you ‘Don’t bother’ applying to a job with more than 200 applicants. But I am not most people and I’ve seen some things when it comes to resumes, applications and jobs. We have a client who saw a posting for a Vice President of Human Resources for a local hospital organization. The description, the location, and the salary were all perfectly aligned to his career. The fact that it was 12 minutes from his house was a bonus. When he saw the posting, they already had 438 applicants. Ten days after applying, he got a call to interview. He’s currently in his 2nd round and feeling good about his prospects of an offer. He asked his interviewer how they rooted through hundreds of applications, and she told him, out of the people who applied, only 11 met the basic qualifications for the job. 11. Many candidates are applying to anything and everything these days, and application processes are getting muddled by this strategy. So don’t let the sheer number of applicants deter you. Job postings often attract a flood of resumes, but many candidates don’t meet even the basic qualifications. If you’re genuinely aligned with the role, your application will stand out—especially if your resume tells a clear, compelling story of why you’re the right fit. Remember, it’s not about being one of 438—it’s about being one of the few who truly qualify. So, apply with confidence. You might just be the one they’re looking for. #JobSearch #ResumeWriting #YouMightBeTheOne

'Easy Apply' is SO easy; some apply for Every. Single. Job. they see, even if they aren't qualified! Most likely - MANY won't make the cut, leaving a clear path for qualified applicants. So, don't worry about the # ... If you have the skills... it's absolutely possible that you'll get through. #foodforthought #jobsearch

If you’re apply for a role in any company, please don’t send follow up emails every “2 minutes” asking the HR questions. They’re overwhelmed already, they may delete your application. Instead, write a great CV, outlining your experiences and skills. It’s competitive out there. Be professional.

Q: You're overwhelmed by lengthy job descriptions on your resume. How can you streamline them effectively? A: The amount of space you dedicate to a description of your past job responsibilities depends entirely on who you expect will read your resume and what they will likely already know about those jobs based on your title and company. For example, if you were the store manager of an Old Navy store and you're looking to continue in retail management, the recruiters and hiring managers who read your resume will already have a basic understanding of what an Old Navy store manager is responsible for. No need to explain it. However, what you DO want to explain is the impact you had on the company while in that role. How did you improve the store? What did you achieve? That's what recruiters will want to see. #retail #resumetips
