🔵 Advancing stroke recovery: The Vivistim System👇 For patients affected by ischemic stroke, regaining mobility in the upper limbs can be a challenging and lengthy process. The recent FDA-approved Vivistim System by MicroTransponder brings new hope to this area, combining vagus nerve stimulation (VNS) with targeted rehabilitation exercises to enhance motor function recovery. 💡How it works: The Vivistim device, implanted under the skin, stimulates the vagus nerve during physical therapy sessions, helping the brain relearn movement more effectively. Clinical studies have shown that stroke survivors using this system experience greater improvements in arm and hand movement compared to standard therapy alone. 👥 Impact for patients: This innovation represents a shift in stroke rehabilitation, providing a new tool to support patients in regaining independence and improving quality of life. For healthcare professionals and those of us working in patient support programs, Vivistim opens doors to integrated care options that go beyond traditional methods. The Vivistim System highlights how cutting-edge technology can reshape recovery, offering tailored support that meets the needs of each patient. This is an exciting development for the future of post-stroke care and rehabilitation. #StrokeRehabilitation #Vivistim #VagusNerveStimulation #HealthcareInnovation #PatientCare #NeuroRehabilitation

Excited to share our study published today in the International Journal of Stroke! (World Stroke Organization) 🧠 We conducted an international study involving 863 clinicians across 61 countries, characterizing patient selection criteria, treatment modalities and medical management for endovascular therapy (EVT) for cerebral venous thrombosis. 🔍 Key insights: - 74% of clinicians support EVT in specific clinical situations. - Patient selection prioritizes clinical factors like worsening consciousness and neurological deficits. - Significant variability in EVT techniques world-wide, with aspiration thrombectomy (56%) and stent retrievers (51%) leading. - Regional differences in post-procedure anticoagulants and imaging preferences. This work highlights the heterogeneity in practice and will act as a resource for refining patient selection and optimizing future clinical trials. #Stroke #EndovascularTherapy #CVT

"We found longer #blood arrival times and lower blood volumes in #lesions than in normal-appearing WM. Higher blood volumes were found in [#MultipleSclerosis] patients' deep WM lesions compared to healthy participants, and blood arrival time was more delayed in MS patients' deep WM lesions than in healthy participants. Delayed blood arrival time in the cortical grey matter was associated with greater cognitive impairment in MS patients. Perfusion #imaging using rs-fMRI is useful for WM lesion characterization." https://lnkd.in/g4xX9247 Ahmed Khalil, MD PhD; Claudia Chien, Ph.D.
