Just like the inflection point of a quadratic function, the choices made today will determine whether the country can prosper sustainably. One of the most pressing issues? The inefficiency of the public sector. France’s public service is one of the largest in Europe, yet its effectiveness is often questioned. With exponential advancements in AI, France has only two to three years to respond. The workforce must be trained in AI skills, data management, and decision-making to lead, not just follow. The need for a strategic transformation in public servant training is clear. Without strengthening competencies—not only technical skills but also critical thinking, problem-solving, and innovation—France risks falling behind in the face of rapid technological changes. Key Challenges for France: 1. Mass Unemployment – The rapid change in industries, driven by AI, could worsen job loss if the workforce is not properly prepared. 2. Budget Imbalance – The persistent inefficiency of public administration weighs on public finances, jeopardizing fiscal stability. 3. Retirement Burden – An aging population and the financial pressure of pension systems add to economic challenges. Potential Solutions: 1. Implementing a Universal Basic Income (UBI), 2. Legislating sabbatical leave, 3. Reducing the regulated workweek (from 35 to 24 hours) to create a balanced policy package, 4. Supporting senior professional activities (entrepreneurship, crafts, real estate income, independent freelance professions), 5. Adopting a progressive retirement plan, replacing the current 42-year annuity system with a “12-year capitalization period” to improve the liquidity of state finances. The bold decisions made today will lead either to a new era of growth or the entrenchment of the country’s decline. Let us act now!
The NEOM Board of Directors today announced the appointment of Eng. Aiman Al-Mudaifer as Acting CEO of the company. Eng. Al-Mudaifer assumes leadership of NEOM, following Nadhmi Al-Nasr’s departure. As NEOM enters a new phase of delivery, this new leadership will ensure operational continuity, agility and efficiency to match the overall vision and objectives of the project. Eng. Al-Mudaifer takes the helm of the organization with the support of a strong leadership team across NEOM’s regions, sectors and departments. Head of PIF’s Local Real Estate Division since 2018, Eng. Al-Mudaifer has a deep and strategic understanding of NEOM and its projects. In his role at PIF, Eng. Al-Mudaifer oversees all local real estate investments and infrastructure projects. He is also a board member of multiple prominent companies within the Kingdom. NEOM is a fundamental pillar of Saudi Vision 2030 and progress continues on all operations as planned, as we deliver the next phase of our vast portfolio of projects including THE LINE, Oxagon, Trojena, Magna and The Islands of NEOM.
