I Like Problems...? Projects and people are not perfect, but that doesn't mean you forego as much planning and organization as possible. Simple things like defining clear objectives, roles and responsibilities, lines of communication, processes, and above all - respect for all stakeholders should always be in the forefront. However, they are often not and then you find yourself with a messy project and lots of problems. I said to the CEO of a consulting company I worked for years ago that "I like problems". He was perplexed. I explained to him that I liked walking into existing projects that had problems. Why? Because I found on a large project I was thrown into that I was good at working through them one at a time. It became one of my strengths - solving these project puzzles. I'm good at it. I peel the layers back one at a time, try to understand the objectives, the challenges, and solutions, and then work with a team to execute. Not always easy, sometimes impossible, but I enjoy it. We all have puzzles to solve, and projects to complete.
