If you’re fancying a night in after a busy weekend, we’ve currently got some amazing artist films hosted on our website homepage, presented in collaboration with T A P E Collective. 🎞️ This showcase of work from T A P E’s ‘Free to Forage’ programme, co-curated with moving image artist Reman Sadani, features films made by mixed heritage creative practitioners. The works centre around reconnecting with nature and its intersection with social justice. 🌳 The three films featured in this showcase are ‘Tr333’ by April Lin 林森, ‘Dead as a Dodo’ by Leena Habiballa, and ‘Coaley Peak (A Fragment)’ by Dan Guthrie. The idea is circulating more and more that in today's plastic art you have to make a work and then think about what you have done. No premeditation, no minimal training in art. Work and then think. Everyone is an artist today. Nothing matters, what once mattered when you were trained to make fine art. This is how today's artist tries to shock at any cost, thus ending up boring the audience.Thus whipping the sensations of the receiver with such images, he inexorably reaches monotony. Today's artist no longer seems inclined to give pleasure to the recipient, but with satisfaction seems to shocking on the art-loving viewer. The artist of the 21st century is no longer the bohemian of another time who displayed his very being on canvas. We live in aworldoverwhelmed by information, a complicated world where everything is episodic and drifting. It is believed that with the new millennium a new road has opened where abstract art is washed of the genuine spirit and computerized. Therafore, we live the moment when the talent of the author is minimized, there is an abundance of artists - anyone can - who offer the promise of unlimited communication but also of a silent autism. ✅. Instead of a conclusion, what was once a standard of quality and originality has today become a banality. So, the crisis of contemporary art is generated by the lack of an answer to a simple question: - “Are there criteria for aesthetic appreciation?" 🛑. #NOTE :I’m open to any opinion. We all learn from here.

Remember your collection is a representation of you. What you collect tells a story about your mindset and how much history/heritage you've learned. An art collection should make sense... and never put anything in an art collection that doesn't belong. Also to avoid looted pieces, do extensive research on the provenance. I prefer to collect unknown or untitled pieces that bring out the best of art collecting ability... it challenges me. Coming into art collecting as a get rich scheme, it's likely you will never find yourself getting wealthy or finding investment opportunities on your journey. Collecting should be completely off the love of art, the creative process, and how it touches you. Beautiful things come to you with good intentions and hard work. Please remember all art pieces are not decoration for your wall at home. I am not here to teach anyone anything, but I can definitely drop some knowledge about collecting rarity and masterpieces. Foto(so)fie - Home of forgotten objects An essential point of this artistic investigation is the exploration of the relationships that bind us to things and concepts. In a phenomenological key (through perception, memory and judgment) there is no real separation between us and things, where by things we can mean not only common objects but also abstract ones, numbers, chimeras, events, processes, patience or fear: forms or essences that are established in an inseparable interaction between us and the world. It is no coincidence that photography (and art), in a broad sense, can be interested in all these aspects: from the simplest and most concrete to the most abstract and interesting. This work can thus be imagined and laid out as a sort of archive or shelter for the objects we have abandoned, that is, all those things (but also feelings or other abstractions) that we look at only starting from common conventions and prejudices: in doing so we repudiate them from a more intimate vision and we forget about them in the incessant and irrelevant flow of the objects themselves in our lives. Following is a short catalogue of open questions: - What are things without us? - And what are things, instead, compared to a more anthropocentric conception? - The metaphysical and antimetaphysical dimension in the relationship with things - The complicated dependence on language - Things as the fragmentation of a more unitary vision of the world - Images of an experience of the world from the point of view of things - The problem of form in objects and conceptual representations - But do concepts really exist? Good morning, everyone! Thinking about Seventh Generation Thinking this morning. I was watching a PBS program recently and one of the concepts that was discussed in planning for the future was the philosophy of Seventh Generation Thinking. It’s a simple concept originated in the ancient Iroquois Tribal Nation that the decisions we make today should result in a sustainable world seven generations into the future. I’ve always been a believer in long term planning and honestly believe that a huge number of our human issues are the result of building a global social order on short term thinking, planning, and implementation. We’ve built “short termism” into our economies, healthcare, industry, science, livelihoods, environmental care, and quality of life (to name a few). We’re in a self perpetuating loop of living in the “wow of now”, and only recently (mainly because of human extinction concerns) have focused on longer term goals necessary to survive. But think for a minute, how different the world might be now if we’d taken to heart the tenets and wisdom of the ancient ones. Seventh Generation Thinking is a world altering concept. One I hope it’s not too late to adopt in our fast paced modern world. Today’s art is “Irish Orb”.
