Kratos Gamer Network (KGeN), a decentralized gaming platform, secured $10M in a funding round led by Aptos Labs, with contributions from Polygon and Game7. The investment boosted its valuation to $500M, up from $150M earlier this year. Founded in early 2023 by Manish Agarwal (former CEO of Nazara Technologies Limited) and Ishank Gupta, KGeN has raised a total of $30M. The platform aims to create a decentralized network where gamers can own and monetize their data. The company reported $12.1M in revenue as of October 2024 and aims to hit $25M by next year. King River Capital, Immutable and Polygon Labs have teamed up to create the Inevitable Games Fund (IGF), aimed at injecting more resources into the #Web3gaming sector. This initiative has successfully attracted $30 million from various #Web3 space investors. Zeb Rice, co-founder and managing partner at King River Capital, remarked, “Just like mobile gaming exploded from nearly non-existent in 2008 to 79% of today's gamers playing on mobile, we're witnessing the beginning of a comparable transformation with Web3 technology.” The Web3 #gaming industry has amassed over $19 billion in funding since 2018. According to a PwC report from 2023, this trend is expected to continue, forecasting gaming revenues to surpass $312 billion by 2027, with a compound annual growth rate of 7.9% from 2023 to 2027. For 99.99% of Web2 game studios, there is no choice but to embrace radical innovations into the traditional gameplay and economy. For Web3 industry, there is no choice but to onboard the real consumption-driven scenarios. Trading and DeFi could only go so far. Our solution is not Web2.5 games nor crypto narrative P2E. It’s something completely new and we could claim ownership of such a radical innovation.

Illuvium secures $12M in a Series A funding round #Illuvium, a blockchain-based gaming platform, has successfully closed a Series A funding round of $12 million. The funding was led by #KingRiverCapital, #ArringtonCapital, #TheSpartanGroup, and #AnimocaCapital with participation from #SeliniCapital, #PolygonVentures, #YieldGuildGames, #LaserDigital, #FirstVIP, #Arca, #32BitVentures, and others. This investment is a significant milestone for the company as they plan to introduce a new gaming experience. Players will be able to transfer in-game assets seamlessly across multiple interconnected games. Illuvium has a revenue-sharing model that redirects all in-game revenues to staked investors. This approach has earned the attention and support of Framework Ventures, who led a $10 million funding round for the company in May 2023. With this latest round, Illuvium's total funding reaches $60 million. This sets the stage for the imminent launch of its interconnected gaming universe in Q2 2024. When it comes to Web3 gaming, the reality is that current user numbers are underwhelming (2 million at best). The 100s of millions of active Web2 gamers are content with the games they know and love, and Web3 gaming in it's current form will struggle to attract them. At Perion Labs we see this as an opportunity to take a different approach.
