In FiscalNote's most recent 2025 State of Government Affairs study, about 1k respondents shared their concerns regarding the proliferation of #AI in their industry/role. Their top concern, shared by 58 percent of participants, is the potential undermining of strategic thinking and expertise. This was a similar issue raised during the growth of calculators, digital spreadsheets, search engines, and chatbots, all of which are now widely accepted and in use. In occupational pursuits like like politics, public policy, and public affairs, where authenticity, personal networking, relationships, and especially trust hold significant value, the integration and applications of AI should be viewed with caution. These essential human elements have a natural resilience (autoimmune effect) to rapid advancements in AI technology.
