Also called “eternal pollutants”, #PFAS are non-degradable, persistent, mobile, toxic and bio accumulative. Contaminating surface and groundwater, including drinking water, they negatively affect the environment, animals, and humans. @Calgon Carbon Corporation’s - a @Kuraray company - recent study demonstrates that the #MultipleHearthFurnace (#MHF) technology combined with a Flue Gas Abatement (FGA) unit, is perfectly suited for the full removal of Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (#PFAS) from end-of-service-life Granular Activated Carbon (GAC) during its reactivation. GAC is widely used and well‐established for the removal of contaminants from #DrinkingWater and #Wastewater, and is reactivated in a thermal treatment once it has reached the end of its service life and became so called “spent carbon". A large portion of the close to 100 % destruction of the PFAS compounds contained in the spent GAC occurs in the #MHF furnace itself. @John Cockerill’s #NesaCore™ Multiple Hearth Furnace (#MHF) technology is suitable for both the production and reactivation of #ActivatedCarbon. For the reactivation process, our #NesaCore™ furnace technology heats the activated carbon to temperatures of >900°C under a strict controlled atmosphere, and thus allows to efficiently desorb and remove PFAS from GAC. With its advances thermal treatment solutions @John Cockerill proudly supports the #EcologicalTransition and #CircularEconomy. => https://lnkd.in/e-sRRzHW #WeAreJohnCockerill #MultipleHearthFurnace #PFAS #ActivatedCarbon

Our population has grown by more than 50% between 1974 when the Safe Drinking Water Act was enacted and today, placing an added burden on our drinking water infrastructure. Currently, around two million Americans lack safe and reliable drinking water. Our communities deserve more. I’m both curious and concerned about asking this question. What if your child or grandchild were being exposed to lead poisoning due to the lead service line feeding your house 🏡 and your water authority told you it will take a decade to remove the poison from your child or grandchild’s drinking water 💧 what would you do? Why aren’t we utilizing innovative technologies 🤔 Lead is poisoning our children all over the world 🌎🌍! This #NSF 61 Certified #technolgy is scientifically proven to last over 100 years and is impregnable to lead. It could be an option for lead pipe replacements or utilized to extend mandated #EPA programs for decades. Plus+ this technology can withstand over 300 psi and seals leaks. Did you know today is World Toilet Day? Did you know there was even a day dedicated by the United Nations to recognize the Toilet? In the United States we take for granted the basic sanitation services we use daily. Most only give it a thought when we can't find one while on the road, or if service is temporarily suspended, or if the worst happens such as a backup into our homes. So today...celebrate the Toilet, appreciate what we take for granted, and take a few minutes to view the link below and remind ourselves how fortunate we are to have what we consider basic sanitary services. https://lnkd.in/efXNrC3E In the meantime, WEP will do what we do best, convey and treat millions of gallons of wastewater per day for the residents and businesses in Onondaga County. How fortunate we are. #worldtoiletday

Water security is a pressing issue in the UK, with up to 900 million litres of clean drinking water potentially lost every day due to leaks in pipes, taps, and toilets. Water Regulation 4 is crucial in tackling this challenge by enforcing strict standards on water fittings, helping to reduce waste and safeguard public health. In our latest blog, we explore how Regulation 4 works to keep drinking water clean and free from contamination. Read the full blog here: https://gag.gl/X4ep18 #BSI #Regulation4
