Spend the day with us to celebrate #BlackHistoryMonth!
One of the pillars of our Diversity + Inclusion framework is Education 📚 So we love inviting guests to our Barns to talk about their experiences and help our teamies broaden their thinking about the world around us!
Last week, we had the amazing Will Njobvu visit us to share his experiences navigating the world of entertainment and journalism as a minority and the profound affect those experiences have had on his confidence.
We also had an incredibly insightful “Lunch + Learn” with our very own Myles Minott who played his brave card to educate the team on black history and hosted an open and honest Q+A to help us champion our Be Curious value!
At Ella’s Kitchen, we always try to promote a Culture of Togetherness where the Barns are a welcoming home for everyone and where people are able to be their true authentic selves, living and breathing our value of Fostering Inclusion everyday ❤️

At Lexxic, we believe in the power of stories—stories that shape our history, our identities, and our future. 📖
This year's Black History Month theme, "Reclaiming Narratives," resonates deeply as we work to empower diverse voices in the workplace.
Throughout history, many Black individuals with neurodifferences like autism, ADHD, and dyslexia have faced double layers of marginalisation—both for their race and their cognitive differences. Their stories often go untold.
This month, we honour all of these individuals who defied odds and reshaped history and those who will continue to do so. By embracing their full unique identities, we not only correct the past, but pave the way for a more inclusive and equitable future.
Let’s continue to amplify diverse voices and ensure that every narrative is heard, valued, and celebrated 🎉

Jobs 22 is proud to celebrate #BlackHistoryMonth this October 🖤. This year’s theme, ‘Reclaiming Narratives,’ highlights the importance of recognising and reclaiming Black history and culture. Together, we can highlight stories often overlooked to raise awareness across our stakeholder network.
If colleagues are comfortable sharing, we welcome our staff to share their personal stories and experiences internally, creating an environment of learning, respect, and celebrating Black history.
Each year, we’re privileged to support thousands of individuals from diverse backgrounds on their journey toward employment. Understanding and reflecting on the communities we serve is critical to earning their trust and helping them build brighter futures.

⚖️ Creating an equitable society is crucial today. Current events remind us of the ongoing struggle for justice, accessibility, and inclusion. What can we do to uphold morality and ethics while political leaders attempt to dismantle legislation meant to protect us?
✊ You take a stand.
Bigotry has no place at MBP Strategies, LLC. ALL are welcome here. We believe in building a community with ALL individuals regardless of their first language, nationality, skin color, race, religion, ethnicity, economic position, impairment, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, or any other label.
🤝 Whether you're a client, partner, colleague, or member of our diverse community, your character is what matters to us.
🖤 That said, as we approach Black History Month — it's important to continue recognizing the contributions and sacrifices of Black individuals and continue to foster a deeper understanding of our shared history and cultural diversity.
♎ In a world still grappling with systemic racism and inequality, highlighting these issues helps drive meaningful change and promotes unity. Ensuring equitable opportunities for ALL is essential for creating a more just and thriving society.
☮️ By acknowledging and celebrating Black history — we honor the past and work towards a brighter, more inclusive future for everyone.

As #BlackHistoryMonth approaches, I’m reminded of an experience from last year.
Just ONE week before an event scheduled the LAST week of February, I was asked to speak at a private medical school event—for free.
It made me reflect on the challenges Black speakers often face, especially during this month that celebrates our history.
Here are some key lessons for organizations planning Black History Month events c/o Michelle Silverthorn:
🎯 1. Pay Black History Month Speakers Fairly
Exposure doesn’t pay bills. If you ask a speaker to donate their time, understand that many Black professionals have built valuable expertise over years of hard work. If you can’t afford a paid speaker, consider other low-cost activities like virtual watch parties or trivia that still honor the month meaningfully.
🎯2. Black History is Vast & Intersectional
Black history isn’t just about slavery or civil rights. It’s about Black scientists, entrepreneurs, mental health, migration, LGBTQ+ communities, & so much more. Think beyond the traditional narrative to explore the rich diversity of Black history.
🎯3. Choose Speakers Relevant to Your Industry
Black History Month speakers should speak to your organization’s current goals & challenges. Whether addressing diversity in recruitment, supplier diversity, or leadership, the conversation should connect to your ongoing equity efforts.
🎯4. Trust Your Speakers to Share Their Story
Black speakers are experts in their fields, bringing lived experience & knowledge. Share your goals for the event, but trust us to craft a message that resonates with your audience.
🎯5. Hire Black Speakers Year-Round
Being Black isn’t just for February. Hire Black speakers throughout the year for leadership training, team-building, and more. Let’s make Black voices a part of your ongoing programming.
As we approach Black History Month, let’s honor the past while making space for a future rooted in equity, respect, & inclusion—year-round.

As we approach Black History Month, it's important to remember the numerous ways you can show your support to the Black community.
The video below is from last October when I worked with Barclays to host an Afro dance workshop for their employees, as part of their Black History Month programming.
During the workshop, I taught them the basics of Afro dance foundation, learned some grooves + a dance routine which my group + I performed at the Barclays campus a couple of days before this workshop.
If you're looking for ways to get involved in Black History Month, I'm happy to help. Please feel free to contact me if you're interested in learning more about how to facilitate activities in your company.
Here are some ideas for Black History Month activities:
- Host a panel discussion on the importance of Black history and culture.
- Organise a a dynamic African dance showcase.
- Lead a workshop on African art, dance or literature.
- Invite a guest speaker to talk about their experiences with racism and discrimination.
- Volunteer your time to a local organisation that is working to promote racial equality.
By taking part in these activities, you can help to raise awareness about the challenges faced by Black people and promote a more just and inclusive society.
