As an important component connecting tires and axles, the iteration of design, materials, and manufacturing processes of wheel hubs has a direct impact on vehicle performance. According to Technavio's report, the global hub market is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 4.5% between 2021 and 2025. This growth is largely due to the popularity of lightweight wheels. Taking aluminum alloy wheels as an example, compared to traditional steel wheels, they have reduced weight by about 30%, which not only improves the fuel efficiency of the vehicle but also enhances its handling performance. BMW's M-series is a typical case, with more advanced casting and forging techniques used in the wheels from the first generation to the latest generation, which further reduces the weight of the wheels while maintaining their strength. Next, let's talk about bearings. The upgrade iteration of wheel hub bearings is mainly reflected in durability and reduced friction. The third generation wheel hub bearings launched by NSK adopt new lubrication technology and materials, which extend the bearing life by 20% and reduce the friction coefficient by 15%. These improvements not only reduce maintenance costs, but also enhance the overall performance of the wheel hub. Let's take a look at the wheel hub bolts again. This seemingly inconspicuous component is actually crucial for the stability and safety of the wheel hub. In recent years, titanium alloy wheel hub bolts have been favored due to their lightweight and high-strength characteristics. Taking ARP company as an example, the strength of its titanium alloy wheel hub bolts is twice that of steel bolts, but the weight is only half. Such iterations undoubtedly provide more reliable guarantees for racing cars and high-performance vehicles. In addition, we cannot ignore the role of wheel hub gaskets. The main function of the wheel hub gasket is to ensure precise fit between the wheel hub and the axle. With the advancement of materials, such as the application of carbon fiber and composite materials, the performance of wheel hub gaskets has also been significantly improved.
