The Future of Electric Vehicle (EV) Manufacturing in Eastern Cape - Unlocking Opportunities. The Automotive Industry Development Centre Eastern Cape (AIDC-EC) joins the world in celebrating World Electric Vehicle Day in its 5th anniversary, as the world shifts towards sustainable transportation, making the Eastern Cape poised to become a hub for Electric Vehicle manufacturing. This phenomenal celebration of innovation and cleaner technologies was created to raise awareness and promote the shift to electric vehicles worldwide. In its 5th anniversary this year, the celebration seeks to establish how business, and alike, policymakers, and individuals will #DriveChange to continue supporting the shift to a decarbonised society. To address this, the Eastern Cape Provincial Government, through the AIDC-EC, has an EV Infrastructure expansion plan spanning 3 years, with 13 EV charging stations to be rolled out and is underway. Notwithstanding, efforts by the government in the Eastern Cape to catalyse initiatives in Green Energy Projects that aim to invest in renewable energy to support EV Charging. #ChangeThis | “Norway believes in electric vehicles so much that its official “Visit Norway” website proclaims it “the EV capital of the world,” and boasts almost six hundred thousand battery EVs and nearly two hundred thousand plug-in hybrid EVs by late 2023. That’s over 25 percent of the cars on Norwegian roads. Eighty percent of the vehicles sold in the country in 2022 were electric, thus seemingly on track to reach the political goal of making the entire Norwegian fleet of passenger transport emission-free. #DYK that electric cars are not an invention of the 21st century? The "Electric Viktoria" built by Siemens Schuckertwerke was one of the first purely #ElectricCars ever! The Viktoria was available in the version as a minibus, van or as an elegant hotel taxi. At a top speed of 30 kilometers per hour, it had a range of up to 80 kilometers. But how did you charge an #eCar back in 1905? 🚗 It was a hassle: The whole 480-kilogram battery had to be replaced with the help of a pulley!
