What if every electric vehicle (EV) became a mobile power bank? 🔋 By 2030, #Europe could see 34 million EVs on the road—a massive opportunity for our renewable energy system, which urgently needs innovative storage solutions. A new study by the Fraunhofer Institute highlights the transformative impact of bidirectional charging: 🌿 Virtual power plants: By 2040, EVs could supply up to 9% of Europe’s annual power needs—and up to 20% of peak electricity demand. 💶 Energy system savings: Bidirectional charging could reduce EU energy system costs by 8.6% annually by 2040. ☀️ Accelerating #renewables: It could enable an additional 430 GW of solar energy capacity, nearly doubling EU's current capacity.
