They say no good deed goes unpunished, but when it comes to title searching, we tend to disagree. 🏡 A big thanks to our friend Joseph A Grabas, CTP, NTP, New Jersey title searcher extraordinaire, for sending us a few copies of his new book "Owning New Jersey: Historic Tales of War, Property Disputes & the Pursuit of Happiness." Congrats, Joe! 👏 #propertydisputes #njrealestate #landuselaw #njlanduselaw #localgovernmentlaw

In Bathurst for a very important corroboree to commemorate the bicentenary of this day in 1824 when martial law was imposed on the Wiradjuri people in Bathurst. This is the first corroboree on top of Mount Panorama for many, many decades. Here to learn about the colony-sanctioned slaughter of Aboriginal people in this area as part of what’s now known as the ‘frontier wars.’ The Wiradjuri call it the ‘homeland wars’ since it was their home. Today’s a good day to read about what happened, learn more about our shared history. And historical truths we were never taught. Only through truth and understanding can we heal and come together.

By 200 AD, the Etruscans were using gold and other materials to create crowns and bridges. Gold crowns and “veneers” were placed on teeth both as a treatment for tooth decay and as a way to display wealth and luxury. https://lnkd.in/dQYEy3cS. When did people start wearing crowns? At least as early as the Old Kingdom (2675–2170 b.c.e.), kings wore nine different crowns. These crowns probably represented different aspects of the king's office. Similar crowns appeared in the coronation of Hatshepsut (1478–1458 b.c.e.) and of Ptolemy V (209–180 b.c.e.). https://lnkd.in/dqud4ZN2.). Does the Crown have any power? The monarch takes little direct part in government. The authority to use the sovereign's formal powers is almost all delegated, either by statute or by convention, to ministers or officers of the Crown, or other public bodies" do you remember I posted about hats and this accessory was part of the definition of social level? What about the crown is the crown a symbol of power?

118 years ago - in June 1906 – Congress signed the Antiquities Act into law! Since then, 18 Presidents (9 Republicans and 9 Democrats) have used its power to create National Monuments. National monuments protect our country's historic landmarks or objects of scientific and cultural interest for generations to come. They also boost local economies and help support diverse communities. Check out Pitkin County Commissioner, Greg Poschman, talk about the impact national monuments, especially Camp Hale-Continental Divide, have had on Colorado and learn more about the state-specific impacts of national monuments at https://lnkd.in/gmesntyv
