After our work with Ilmarinen toimitilat on renewing the brand of Postitalo (House of Post) 📮, we are exhilarated by the magnetic pull of this central Helsinki monument—and the news that Posti Group Oyj is moving back to the mothership 🏤 . A snippet from the brand story: At the pole position of the arterial road that pushes through the center of Helsinki, stands a monumental, postbox-yellow building. The sober, majestic structure greets passersby in its original 1930s brick cladding, fired in a bespoke hue by Kupittaan Savi. In some documents, the place is still referred to as the Gas Factory Quarters, named after a factory that once stood here. There was a time when the round gasholder building was a roller-skating rink for the local jet set, orchestrated by the infamous Master J. O. Olander. Until, in a patriotic construction spirit amidst the wars, and with a desire to put Finland on the world map, the grandest building project of its time was launched — the Helsinki Post and Telegraph House. A competition was organized, and architects Jorma Järvi and Erik Lindroos were picked from a prestigious group — among them, one Alvar Aalto. The young architects’ presumed lack of experience led to the supervisory role being awarded to senior architect Karl Borg. Negotiation skills undoubtedly came handy as the massive, politically high-profile project was taken from start to finish. Postitalo is a byproduct of the architectural tides turning from monumental classicism into rational functionalism. There’s a bit of both; a mix and a blend, Borg's touch on the vision of Järvi and Lindroos. Currently this protected landmark is being adapted respectfully, but ambitiously, catering to the latest generation of doers and makers. Offering some monumental energy and a workspace, where old-world elegance meets services designed for the needs of today. #postitalo #branding #rebranding #brandingagency #brandmanagement #casestudy #brandstrategy #brandidentity Link to HS: https://lnkd.in/dhus2pvS

Can we have a long term strategy instead of reacting to what is happening at the moment? Can we have a holistic overview over different aspects of life? Can we rethink our way of doing and processing? Can we adjust our projects to serve not just our society needs but also the needs of the future generations? Can we?
In Sweden, construction giant Skanska and furniture retailer IKEA founded BoKlok – a joint venture focused on delivering affordable, material efficient housing across Europe. Frontrunner building owners and developers along with real life project references are two of the most efficient ways of making the real estate less climate damaging. We think we have all seen more than enough powerpoint slides. Today, our Christian Wittrup went with Kuben Management A/S, Charlotte Haugvaldstad and Agnete Kjær together with their client to see and inspect our a:gain Tystø partition walls in corporation with DEKO made of demolition glass and discarded wood. Thank you Ikano Bolig and Lone Lindgård Laursen for allowing us to drop by. Fun fact: Yes, our Tystø wall is - when purchasing it, including installation, is still roughly 30-40% more expensive than the most sold and cheaper models on the market (made by virgin materials). However, Tystø saves ~70% CO2 and ~ 27 kg of waste pr. m2, and, when purchasing at a:gain you will get full product warranty. In addition, you get even surfaces, a smooth design and easy of maintenance, and is is designed for disassembly. You can find an EDP of the product at EPD Danmark. And, do you know that the last three cases where Christian has been talking to clients, our Tystø system is roughly 50-100% cheaper than 1-1 direct reuse, where local carpenters try to retro-fit demolition wood and make it fit with random glass units. That is upcycling in a nutshell. Saving materials and making them into new beautiful products. Deliver documentation. Make it easy. Make it affordable. Deliver normal market terms product warranty. That is our recipe to scale within the professional real estate market. Glass Partitioning Wall | IKANO Bolig | a:gain https://hubs.la/Q02trzZY0 #upcycling #wastetovalue #scarceressources

Vertical industrial facilities are hardly novel, but it is good to see developers starting to move back in this direction. I recall discussion a couple years ago of similar in Vancouver. Multi-story industrial facilities are quite common in Europe and Asia, and once were the norm in North America as well. You don't have to look very far to find former multi-story factories at the heart of our cities: 🏭 Red Rose Tea - Saint John 🏭 Ford Piquette Plant - Detroit 🏭 Nabisco (Chelsea Market) - New York With the average daily commute in parts of North America hovering around 54 minutes, imagine the happiness, productivity, and emissions reduction that could be unlocked with workplaces closer to where we live. As reshoring and micro-factories continue to gain steam, maybe it's time we also reconsider where and how they are built. No AI required for this one, though it might help with planning. https://lnkd.in/gKnWsbGG

Super excited to announce my first completed project in Sweden: Doori, a sustainable Korean restaurant in Växjö! 🌿🍴 This journey has been all about combining my passion for sustainability with creating an efficient, welcoming space. Here's what we achieved: * Complete Interior Design & Execution: Using reclaimed wood, bamboo, and eco-friendly materials, I designed the entire space, making sustainability a priority in every detail. * 40% Waste Reduction: By streamlining operations and cutting waste, we’ve reduced our footprint significantly. * 25% Increase in Efficiency: Optimized layouts and smarter workflows have boosted service speed and customer satisfaction. * Local Sourcing: Partnered with a local vendor to ensure fresh, sustainable produce, reducing our carbon footprint while supporting the community. This is my first project here in Sweden, and I am beyond proud of what we’ve built. It’s not just about the food, but about showing that sustainability and efficiency can work hand in hand. Watch the video to see how it all came together! #FirstProjectInSweden #Sustainability #Efficiency #WasteReduction #InteriorDesign #Doori #KoreanFood #Växjö #LocalSourcing
