This April, we will embark on another 'Creative Breakthrough for Managers & Section Heads LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® Real-Time Strategy workshop that brings a hands-on, creative twist to strategy development. In this workshop, participants build not just 3D models but also the identity of the organisation, covering the core, aspirational, and external aspects. Visualising the landscape involves creating LEGO® agents to represent key factors, fostering a shared understanding among the group. They will explore connections in the landscape which adds a layer of awareness about crucial interactions using LEGO® elements, metaphors and storytelling. Through distilling creative & collective wisdom, participants articulate Simple Guiding Principles (SGP), serving as decision-making aids. Wrapping up, the focus shifts to communicating the strategy, summarising insights, and crafting a practical action plan for implementation. What do you do when you face a big bucket of mixed Lego? Dive in and get inspired by whatever you grab? Hunt for the perfect piece in the chaos? Or just close the lid and grab the tv remote - no need to complicate life! Here’s my approach: I start sorting them by colour! Not only does it almost have meditative qualities, it helps me to create a clearer view of the whole, reveals patterns and connections that were previously hidden. This method isn’t just for Lego. In our work environments, taking a step back to stocktake and looking at the bigger picture helps us identify the pieces we have and what we need to address to drive real change. What’s your go-to technique for making sense of chaos? PS: End to this story - I sorted them, we had fun building different projects and then dumped the pieces all mixed up back into the box. The groceries where sliding all over the car. Food flying everywhere… kind of like kids who aren’t in their seats. Why not buckle the groceries in for the same result? I am continually impressed with a child’s ability to find innovative solutions to real problems. Just ask the LEGO Group and LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY®. So much of what makes a great leader, leading a great team, is about unwinding or escaping the limitations of adult tendencies. Fear is the root of many limiting adult tendencies. Fear of what others think. Fear of not being enough or not measuring up. Fear about responsibilities. Children don’t have those fears. And their creative genius is free to solution. Free to learn, free to have fun. Free to perform. We would do well to spend more time exploring how we can unwind our fears to live and lead more fully. #leadership #greatplacestowork #learningeveryday

Every Sunday through my growing years lunch was Biryani; actually when I think of it today it was really a pulao of sorts and far from biryani. It satiated the taste buds of all the family members it was Biryani for us Recently for Jasmine’s Playadiem our entire team sat down together and worked with the Lego Serious Play methodology to derive our strategy and guiding principles. This exercise post it’s completion was implemented immediately and the the results are truly fascinating. Why was this so special and useful; it’s because each team member built their model, shared their idea and in this way the strategy for the organisation was created with each members input. Just like the biryani ; we cooked it, devised the recipe, ate it together, it was easy to digest and helped us grow. Strategy is very intrinsic and can’t be copy pasted from the outside; it’s driven internally and every member needs to be a part of this story and create the magic recipe for success It’s even more special when we Play ; I mean #seriousplay and create miracles. #legoseriousplay #jasminesplayadiem #culture #growth #strategy #realtime #playandgrow #leadership
