As a recruiter, one of the most challenging moments is receiving an email like this: "Could you share a brief reason why I wasn’t selected? Even something like 'the design process wasn't clearly explained in the portfolio' would be valuable." I understand the courage it takes to ask for feedback, and I genuinely wish I could provide detailed insights to help every candidate improve. But here’s the reality: recruiters often can't give specific feedback due to: 1️⃣ Volume: With dozens (sometimes hundreds!) of applications per role, providing individualized feedback isn't feasible. 2️⃣ Fairness: It's tough to balance consistency in feedback while considering subjective elements in the selection process. 3️⃣ Legal and Confidentiality Risks: Detailed feedback can unintentionally open doors to misunderstandings or liability concerns. That said, I still want to be supportive! While I may not always provide tailored feedback, here’s what you can do to improve: ✅ Ask for feedback during portfolio reviews or interviews: This is often the best chance to hear specifics. ✅ Connect with peers in your field: Join communities or forums for portfolio critiques and advice. ✅ Request portfolio reviews outside of job applications: Many recruiters and hiring managers are happy to give advice in a non-application context. Remember, not getting selected isn’t a reflection of your talent—it’s about role alignment. Keep going! 🌟 How do you handle feedback as a candidate or recruiter? I’d love to hear your perspective! #Recruitment #CareerTips #CandidateExperience #DesignHiring
