As the holiday season approaches and we adorn our homes with festive decorations, it’s a time to reflect on cherished memories, both personal and professional. For those of us who once called Lynx Airlines home, the Christmas season often brings with it a bittersweet reminder of a chapter that has closed. Lynx Airlines, though no longer in operation, was a place where many of us poured our passion and dedication into providing affordable travel and unforgettable experiences for Canadians. Whether you worked behind the scenes in operations, customer service, corporate or as a part of the cabin crew, the camaraderie we shared was unlike any other. Much like a Christmas ornament carefully placed on a tree, Lynx Airlines holds a special place in my heart. Even though the airline’s journey ended too soon, the memories we created together—long hours, shared laughs, and a mutual love for aviation—still shine brightly in our minds. This holiday season, let’s raise a glass to the colleagues, the challenges, and the pride we all felt as part of Lynx Airlines. As we hang our ornaments, we remember that while the airline is no longer with us, the spirit of those years lives on in the connections we made and the impact we had on the world of aviation. ✈️ Supporting airBaltic through challenging times Air travel is part of our lives, which connects people, places, and opportunities. But the aviation industry, like any other, faces its share of challenges—and today, airBaltic is navigating one of those moments. Due to unforeseen engine maintenance delays, airBaltic has made the difficult decision to cancel 4,670 flights during the summer period. With up to 145 seats per aircraft, this means potentially sending 677,150 emails (according to my simple math calculations) to inform affected passengers. It’s an extraordinary logistical undertaking for any team. As shared in their official response: “Relevant and impacted flight cancellations will be done during today, and upcoming days. Passengers will be offered either a full refund or flight alternatives (where available). Once again, we thank you for your understanding and apologize for inconveniences caused.” I want to take a moment to recognize the tireless work of the airBaltic team during this time. Behind the scenes, they are doing everything possible to ensure passengers are informed and supported. Managing cancellations at this scale is no small feat, and it speaks to their dedication and professionalism. To all passengers affected: let’s remain patient and empathetic. The aviation industry operates under immense pressure, and it’s in these moments of difficulty that we can show our collective resilience and understanding. 🎉 2024: A Year of Growth, Challenges, and Firsts! 🎉 2024 has been the most demanding yet rewarding year of my career. While I’ve been fortunate to work on many challenging projects in the past, this year stands out for its extraordinary milestones and “firsts.” This year, I had the honor of leading the first-ever wet lease project in Argentina with two Boeing B737-800s, transforming the passenger transport landscape in the country. Collaborating with a forward-thinking South American airline eager to innovate and elevate the regional travel experience was truly inspiring. ✈️ Another highlight was joining euroAtlantic Airways as Chief Commercial Officer. With over 30 years of industry expertise, a strong and dynamic sales team, and a robust widebody fleet, #EuroAtlantic epitomizes adaptability and excellence in aviation, always ready to rise to any challenge. During last part of this year, it was a real pleasure working on a similar pioneering project in yet another South American country, marking their first-ever operation of this type. This further underscores the aviation industry’s constant evolution and its response to the growing demand for travel solutions. 🛫 But what makes me most proud is being part of a generation of aviation professionals who are always pushing boundaries—delivering tailored solutions to the global market 24/7 while fostering healthy competition and upholding best practices. Though we often compete, it’s a true pleasure to share the stage with such dedicated peers.
