Agree Mark, the emphasis should NOT be on bespoke design . see #archnzohvienna The primary goal is to ensure everyone has a secure home, (supporting the investor goals of speculative investment is a very distant second if not 4th or 5th! goal). Astute management of public venture capital and support of more diversified collective housing types that provide security of tenure should be the emphasis.   I think its time to emphasise a completely bipartisan strategy and to this end the mix of both supply and demand side solutions entwined as they all are anyway. Time to move on from the old left & right binary ‘algorithms’.

Funding for local government cannot be a one-size-fits-all approach – Growth areas need a fair go. Submissions for the parliamentary inquiry into local government sustainability closed last Friday, with the Federal Government looking to know more about the challenges councils face and how to guarantee efficient and sustainable spending. Our submission highlighted funding streams for growth area councils are complex, opaque, and insufficient. It’s clear that greater coordination across all levels of government is required to ensure a cohesive approach to planning, funding, and delivering housing and infrastructure to new communities.
