How do you compare? Blasting in open surface mining and tunnelling shares the fundamental objective of excavating and fragmenting rock to facilitate extraction, but their methodologies and contexts differ significantly. In open surface mining, blasting operations occur in expansive, exposed environments, typically to extract minerals or ores from large open pits. Blasting in tunnelling the blasting usually starts from the centre (cut holes) and all other holes are blasted towards centre in a designed sequence. Which one do you prefer? #NONEL #BLASTING at #QUARRY #MINING:- All drill holes in a round are usually charged with detonators that have the same delay time. The initiation sequence is then determined on the surface with the aid of the delays in the surface connector units. The long delay time of the in-hole detonator as compared to that of the surface connector, enables all blast holes to be activated before any rock displacement begins, thus eliminating the risk of misfire. Another great advantage of the Nonel tunnel system is that the explosive column is initiated effectively from the bottom. The shock wave is enclosed inside the Nonel-tube thus not causing axial initiation of the column charge. This gives full exploitation of the explosive energy and minimizes flyrocks. Vibrations and airborne waves are significantly reduced and better rock fragmentation is achieved. The Nonel system can be used to all surface, smooth-blasting, pre-splitting and trench blasting operations. #ASXNews Record High-Grade Tin Intersection from Severn Deposit at Heemskirk Stellar Resources is pleased to report first #drilling results from the ongoing drill program at its Heemskirk #Tin Project in Western Tasmania. • Results received from first two holes of the 2024 drill program at the Heemskirk Tin Project. • Drilling is targeting the Severn and Queen Hill deposits upgrading Inferred resources to the Indicated category and testing for extensions to the 2023 Mineral Resource Estimate (MRE). • At the Severn deposit, drillhole ZS166 has returned multiple high-grade zones of mineralisation downhole including the best intercept on record on a grade thickness basis (Sn%m). Results included: o 20.9m @ 1.97% Sn from 431.0m including; 14.8m @ 2.40% Sn from 437.1m, and includes, 5.9m @ 3.36% Sn from 437.1m o 4.0m @ 1.67% Sn from 510m o 6.0m @ 1.63% Sn from 522m o 5.0m @ 1.70% Sn from 533m including 1.0m @ 7.34% Sn from 533m • Significantly, the intersections are within the Inferred category of the 2023 MRE and have returned significantly higher grade and thickness than predicted by the current Mineral Resource model. • Mineralisation remains open down plunge with the nearest hole a further 145m down dip. • At Queen Hill, drillhole ZQ165 confirmed northern extension for follow up, returning: o 4.0m @ 0.52% Sn from 310.0m • A total of 8 holes for 3600 metres have been completed to date of the planned 24 hole 9,500m drill program, as part of the prefeasibility study now underway. • A Geophysical crew is mobilising to site in early December to complete fixed loop surface and down hole electromagnetic (DHEM) surveys at Severn and Queen Hill as part of the resource expansion program. #SRZ Managing Director Mr Simon Taylor commented: “The record intersection in the first results from our prefeasibility drilling program is outstanding and emphasises that Heemskirk is a large tin system with all the hallmarks for development into a world class, long-life tin operation. Our recent base case Scoping study confirms a 10-year mine life utilising only the Indicated resources from our MRE, which is likely to grow substantially when we update our resource in 2025. “We currently have 3 drill rigs onsite aiming to upgrade the substantial Inferred material to the Indicated category and to explore for extensions to the system with a down hole electromagnetic survey commencing next month. In tandem, our prefeasibility and baseline environmental studies are progressing well. QMines Limited (ASX:QML) has secured an additional tenement for the Mt Chalmers #Copper and #Gold Project in Queensland, simultaneously gaining access to a highly ranked versatile time-domain electromagnetic (VTEM) anomaly that sits within the newly acquired Striker tenement. The new VTEM anomaly is coincident with a copper-lead-zinc soil geochemical anomaly, offering strong evidence of mineralisation. Previous drilling at Striker generated results of up to 18 metres at 0.88% #zinc, including 6 metres at 1.63% zinc, 0.56% #lead and 11 g/t #silver. Historical results also included broader intersections of 45 metres at 0.48% zinc and 45 metres at 0.43% zinc, indicating potential for a sizable mineralised zone. “We have been waiting for this strategic tenement to become available for some time as it hosts intense sulphide mineralisation, with favourable geology and strong geochemical and geophysical support,” QMines executive chair Andrew Sparke said. We're thrilled to announce that our first-ever diamond drilling and clay analysis has confirmed that the Willcox Playa is prospective for a large-scale lithium deposit in the United States. Full Details: https://lnkd.in/gXwPyBbV Highlights: #MAXX #MAXXF -Each of the first three triangular-spaced drill holes in the northern section of MAX Power’s property, the Discovery Zone covering an area 1,640 feet x 1,640 feet x 2,300 feet, intersected lithium at shallow levels over significant widths, including 15.5 feet grading 774.8 ppm lithium within a broader whole rock interval of 184 feet averaging 570.8 ppm lithium in drill hole WP-23-02 -When separating the clay fraction from the sand/silt fraction, lithium assays increased markedly, by as much as 47%, assaying up to 1,447 ppm lithium -This early-stage discovery remains open in all directions with MAX Power also exploring options to expand its land package -Based on a compilation of MAX Power’s work to date, and historical data, geologists believe the Discovery Zone represents just a fraction of the scale potential of Willcox with higher-grade mineralization expected in areas of increased clay content. Dr. Michael Whittaker, Research Scientist in the Energy Geoscience and Materials Science Divisions at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, stated: “Lithium concentrations at Willcox increase when coarse particles are removed. This is consistent with features of clays found in shallow lacustrine sediments in other resources our team has examined. Bespoke processes aimed at precision separation of the clays at Willcox are likely to improve lithium grades further based on the characteristics of silt and sand that are distinct from otherwise similar deposits. Further research and development on clay mineralogy and separations processes are needed in this promising and under-explored deposit.” Mr. Peter Lauder, MAX Power Senior Geologist, commented: “We have successfully advanced the geological understanding of the Willcox Playa, demonstrating through first-ever diamond drilling and clay separation at Berkeley that the Playa may host a top-tier lithium deposit extending from MAX’s ground through claims leased by the Defense Department. Our BLM claims to the south provide some of the most compelling targets on the property, so we are eager to start Phase 2 drilling there while also expanding the Discovery Zone.” MAX Power CEO Rav Mlait added: “I congratulate our team for a commendable job confirming through first-ever diamond drilling and clay analysis that the Willcox Playa is prospective for a large-scale lithium deposit as the U.S. Geological Survey postulated half a century ago when they carried out some limited work.
