🌟 World IBD Day 19th May 2024 🌟 This World IBD Day on May 19th 2024, it's essential to talk about the challenges faced by individuals battling Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. These conditions impact the lives of millions of people worldwide. It’s been 8 years since my diagnosis of Ulcerative Colitis and 6 years next month I had my large intestine removed and my permanent Ileostomy. Despite these obstacles, I created a Facebook group IBD Runners & Riders that now has over 1,500 members ( https://lnkd.in/e2jteuFV) this community gives support and advice to those with IBD who still maintain an active lifestyle through any type of physical activity. With the love and support of my family since my operation I have completed many challenges raising awareness of Crohn’s & Colitis ranging from the Cardiff Half, Ride London and more recently Long Course Weekend and Ironman Wales. For those seeking more support, organisations like Crohn's and Colitis UK (Crohn's & Colitis UK ) are amazing. Their website offers valuable information, debunking myths surrounding IBD and providing crucial support for those navigating this journey. Myths include - - It's not that bad, it's just a dodgy tummy right? - Having fatigue is the same as being tired. You can just 'shake it off' or get an early night. - You can't have Crohn's or Colitis - you don't look unwell? When I saw you last, you were fine... - If you ate differently, then you'd be cured! **10 Years Cancer-Free: My Journey from Sickness to Strength!** In 2014, I was at the lowest point of my life. I collapsed on the nursing floor, overwhelmed by the weight of my cancer diagnosis. The fear, the uncertainty, and the exhaustion were unbearable. But here's what I did next: I decided that I would not let cancer control my life. I fired not one, not two, but THREE of my oncologists. I walked away from all the harsh treatments of Western medicine, and I took my health into my own hands. Instead of sitting back and waiting for the next dose of toxic medicine, I took charge. I started growing my own food, reconnected with nature, and built a network with local farmers and growers who shared my passion for health and healing. What I learned through that process is that your body is a powerful healing machine when given the right tools—real, whole food. It was a game-changer for me. Fast forward 10 years, and I am proud to say I am CANCER-FREE. And here’s the truth: You don’t need to suffer through endless rounds of medication and treatments to heal. What you need is real food, real support, and the courage to take control of your own health. I now teach others how to do the same.
