The New Product Planning summit was packed with valuable insights. One standout theme was the introduction of PCS (Probability of Commercial Success) in addition to the traditional PTRS framework to emphasize the importance of early commercial considerations. Here are 7 key themes that resonated with me: 1. Align Goals and Incentives Across the Enterprise – Ensure cross-functional alignment by setting clear, shared objectives from the early stages. Everyone should be on the same page with the strategic direction to drive the asset forward. If you see misalignment, lean into it, speak up early, and openly address the challenge. 2. Consider Future Impact of the IRA in Pipeline Planning – The IRA introduced additional pricing, access, and fulfillment considerations. Near-launch market access planning is no longer adequate—consider the IRA implications and trends as part of drug candidate selection and new product planning strategy to maximize the lifetime value of pipeline assets. 3. Manage Capital and Risk Effectively – In a constrained capital environment, every decision matters even more. De-risk development by being thoughtful about indication prioritization, sequencing, and lifecycle management while remaining agile and adaptable to changes in the market. 4. Clarify Strategic Trade-offs – Managing trade-offs is central to NPP success. Clarifying assumptions and constraints and balancing time, costs, risks, and the commercial potential of an asset improves decision-making. 5. Engage Early and Broadly with Stakeholders – Engage with internal and external stakeholders (health authorities, regulatory bodies, payers, and KOLs) early. Get feedback on endpoints that matter for both clinical relevance and reimbursement strategy to get it right: "We can't afford to make mistakes." 6. Think Beyond the First Launch – Successful lifecycle management requires early planning for indication prioritization and sequencing. Especially in an evolving market shaped by the IRA and increased competitive pressures, timing strategies and discipline around strategic value creation are ever more critical. 7. Be Curious, Humble, and Collaborative – Drug development is a team sport. Build bridges and relationships across functions. Curiosity and humility open doors to collaboration. Thank you to the presenters and facilitators for sharing valuable perspectives. #NewProductPlanning #NPPSummit

We initiated a Phase I study in just 3.5 weeks—70% faster than the industry's standard 12-week timeline! The key? Effective communication, strategic planning, and breaking down silos. We aligned our internal team, maintained an open dialogue with the sponsor, and optimized project management with two leads in different time zones for quicker decision-making. This isn't just another success story—it's your roadmap to faster drug development. #ClinicalTrials #DrugDevelopment #ProjectManagement

Prioritisation is something many Pharma leaders struggle with. It’s tough. Especially if: A) Your “value” criteria aren’t clear. B) Your teams are stuck in silos. Here are the 4 most critical aspects of prioritisation to master: 1 - 𝐊𝐧𝐨𝐰 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐭𝐨𝐩 𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬—𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐰𝐡𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲’𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐨𝐩. Don’t waste time perfecting models if the same top items keep surfacing. Focus on those that truly matter. 2 - 𝐂𝐨-𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐢𝐧𝐩𝐮𝐭𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝 𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭. Every stakeholder should understand—and ideally agree—on the top priorities, even if it’s not their favourite project. 3 - 𝐊𝐞𝐞𝐩 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐭 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐧. I’ve seen teams asked to prioritise a list of 20 items. Cut it down to under 10. Group related tasks or themes if you need to. 4 - 𝐄𝐦𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐟𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧. No process is perfect, and that’s okay. A framework is a great guide and starting point for discussions. If you need to deviate—and everyone’s on board—it’s not a failure. When it comes to Pharma Projects, I like the Patient-Centric Value Framework: Patient Impact, Clinical Value, Market Potential, Regulatory Feasibility, Resource Allocation. 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐲𝐨𝐮? #pharmaprioritisation #patientcentric #pharmaleadership #clinicalvalue #pharmastrategy #marketpotential #regulatoryaffairs
