A new trial funded by NIHR (National Institute for Health and Care Research) and Medical Research Council , which will test the efficacy of a new therapy for a disabling post-stroke condition that affects around one in three survivors, is set to begin in the New Year. Led by researchers at University of East Anglia , the study will explore the effectiveness of SIGHT (Spatial Inattention Grasping Therapy), a new therapy which has shown promise in treating spatial inattention, a cognitive condition for which there is currently no treatment. https://lnkd.in/eve5DRth #SpatialInattention

On the 4th of July, I successfully defended my thesis, titled: “Falls in older adults: prediction, the role of medication and the use of decision support”. I had a wonderful day and I could not have wished for a better conclusion to my PhD trajectory.   Among other things, my thesis describes the development and validation of a set of prediction models that can be used to estimate the risk of falling among older patients. One of my models was implemented in a clinical decision support system that helps doctors withdraw medications. This decision support system is currently being evaluated in a large clinical trial, the design of which is described in my thesis.
