How can I create a successful culture in my organization? Everyone wants a great culture, but how do we define that, and how do we create and cultivate great culture? While not always easy, follow these steps. Clearly define your organizations mission statement. Create a sense of purpose for your teams. Tie the mission statement to the purpose, make your team aware of their personal impact and contributions to the successful implementation and execution of the mission. Invest in your teams continued education and success, encourage their personal growth and advancement. Live, breathe, walk that mission statement every single day. Have a vision for the mission and create a very clear picture for your team how they fit into and achieve that mission. What else would you add? Walk the walk, talk the talk, don't have a statement or saying on your wall, in your orientation material, or elsewhere, that is ultimately meaningless because it is not lived in reality in the daily operation of your organization. Small victories arise when you allow yourself to experience discomfort, turning it into an opportunity for growth. Do you ever feel like you can’t freely express yourself? Whether it’s online, with a lover, your child, or perhaps even your boss - this feeling is common. If you’re like me, you might even believe that our culture intentionally manufactures submissiveness and agreeableness, especially from certain groups. In an organizational context, the implications of this are huge. What is the subsequent impact on our: -Performance -Learning -Strategy execution -Creativity -Problem solving when we can’t communicate openly? Spoiler alert ‼️ It’s huge. I’m no stranger to this feeling myself. It’s actually a deep part of our mainstream cultural conditioning. This feeling is a function of our “perceived power”. When we believe an entity has power over us, we are afraid to speak up. Sometimes perceptions do not reflect reality though. People and entities only have absolute power over you if you believe they do. Reclaiming my power through creating new cultures, new embodied belief systems, new relationship norms and new healthy habits have given me the resources I need to be powerful and creative. Here we go with the second part of 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐜𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐚𝐝𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐨𝐧 𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞 ❤️ 𝐈𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐝𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐲 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤 🌞:  🌞𝐃𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐲 𝐃𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐁𝐞𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬 are what make our culture. It’s not a product you can manage.  🌞𝐀𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 in our daily work: No wall tattoos, but consistency in actions - on an organisational AND individual level AND when it comes to values  🌞 𝐌𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐟𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: active dialogue as an ongoing tool  the more we steer on a constant daily level, the less we need the big projects for change 𝐈𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐚𝐥𝐬𝐨 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐬𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐦 🌌:  🌌We need to 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐢𝐧 𝐦𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐢𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐬𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐞𝐬: the operational, governance, relational and the individual space (tension based work) 🌌𝐇𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐜 approaches are key  🌌the more we 𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐧 𝐚 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐝𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐲 𝐥𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥, the less we need the big projects for change (repetition is key…) 🌌𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐤 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬: measurable outcomes for teams and the organisation Thank you Dr. Johannes Landsperger Georg Wolfgang and Simon Berkler And last but not least, here are some 𝐚𝐝𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐈 𝐰𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐝 if you truly want to work on your culture. This is why it is so important to actively choose a different basis for your culture. A healthy Intentional Culture treats every human as a unique gift, deserving of honor and respect. It consciously creates an environment that allows individuals to grow and flourish and contribute in their own way. Simply put, an Intentional Culture is created on the basis of abundance and love, whereas a Command and Control culture is built on scarcity and fear.
