READ extensively, nurturing curiosity, and sharing diverse perspectives. 3. Prioritize family, work, and friends - in that order. Recognizing the value of time and energy, both finite. 4. Actively mentor at least 1 individual and witness their growth. 5. Extend help within my means, uphold positive intentions, and embrace different viewpoints. 6. Emphasize both physical and mental wellness for a balanced life. 7. Infuse humor into daily interactions, leveraging the power of laughter (so important!) 8. Dream Job Search as a Product Manager: First Month Progress, Media Activity, and My Journey with Meta 🚀 In early September, I actively applied, connected with teams, and shared posts. However, halfway through the month, I took a two-week road trip across Europe, hitting pause on all processes to recharge — I realized I’d need plenty of energy and inner drive for this career marathon. Here’s where things stand right now: - 3 active hiring processes - 9 inbound recruiter requests, with 2 progressing further - 2 consulting inquiries from startups Just yesterday, I sent out a new wave of applications (around 10) to roles that interest me. So far, I’ve been applying cold to relevant positions — I’ll ramp things up (with referrals and more) next week. I’ve had two notable successes recently: 1) One of my LinkedIn posts (about my CV making it through Booking.com, Revolut, and Meta) gained 18k views in just 1.5 weeks! I expected some buzz around this content, but the impact exceeded my expectations. I’ll drop a link to the post in the comments. 2) Meta noticed me! Not only did I pass their CV screening, but I also cleared the HR round. I’ll be preparing for my first interview next week, and I’ll share more on that soon. How tough is the job market for Product Managers internationally in September 2024? 🤔 I’ve been on a relatively moderate (for me) job search since late August. Friends and colleagues warned me it could take 6+ months, so I mentally prepared for a long journey. But I was quite surprised when I reviewed my initial results: I currently have 6 active processes! And I even made it through to Meta without any referrals—I just applied through their website and got a response within 24 hours! 💻 I’ve also already interviewed with and got rejections from, Booking.com and Revolut both of which I approached without any referrals. Funny enough, my one referral only worked in one case, while the rest remained silent. Is the referral channel broken? What's going on? 😆 I've decided to take a strategic approach—I'm willing to search as long as it takes. I'm looking for my dream job and will share more about my search criteria soon. P.S. Recently I completed 1 year being an #unstoppable Here are my key learnings from past year experience 1. Understanding of tech : I had a very less understanding of tech , but it was very much required to write the requirements effectively. I can't mention all the developers in one post but I really thank them for resolving my silliest doubt till date🥹 2. Team collaboration: As a product manager , taking requirements and representing your team wasn't easy but thanks to each member from marketing and business team who never made me feel a newbie. 3. Design understanding : I got #unstoppable designer who not only made me understand more about user experience but also helped me meet deadlines whenever it looked impossible. 4. Management : This is the most crucial thing that i have learnt in past 1 year which not only helped me in my career but also in my personal life. Above all things wouldn't have been possible if Ankit Aggarwal sir hadn't provided me this opportunity, and I'll be always thankful to him😊 I would also like to thank Naman Jain who have always inspired me to learn and grow. “Throughout my career, I’ve learned that having a passion for the problem is all you really need to succeed - whether it’s a product challenge, a career hurdle or a personal issue. I wasn’t the best student. My grades weren’t great, but my passion for solving problems has guided every step of my journey. I started as a very junior developer (self-taught without a degree), enjoying coding, but was always more curious about why we were building something. I noticed the marketing team at 888 relied on developers to send emails. It was inefficient, so I built a tool that allowed them to do it themselves. This improved efficiency across the entire unit, freed me to tackle bigger challenges and showed me that I wanted to solve problems, not just write code. Breaking into product management without a degree or formal experience was another challenge to solve. To stand out, I built a LinkedIn automation tool to reach potential employers (it wasn’t as common then as it is now). It worked, landing me my first product role at Digital Turbine, where I learned the basics from an incredible mentor. From there, I sought more structure and experience in a larger team (another problem). At NeoGames, I launched a scalable lottery solution for the Michigan Lottery, handling millions of tickets. While the experience taught me a lot, I realized I wasn’t deeply connected to the problem. To push my skills further and learn from the best, I joined Meta, where I worked on products that impacted millions by detecting risks in financial systems. It was satisfying and taught me a lot, but it also reinforced my belief that I want to work on products that I feel connected to the problem. That belief brought me to Verbit, where I now lead a product that changes the outcomes of real-life events. Our tools empower legal professionals to uncover key insights during depositions (and other legal events to come soon), shaping case outcomes. Working with these legal pros directly and knowing our work has a positive, tangible impact is incredibly fulfilling. I was rejected by 𝟱𝟬 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗲𝘀 before landing my first job out of university at Meta. One of these rejections was a company that I was interning at, and I absolutely 𝙡𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙙 the work and the brilliant minds I was working with. After waiting for 6 months, I was distraught when they broke the news that they couldn’t secure a headcount for me. Looking back now, I’m so thankful that happened. The rejection drove me to open my mind to different types of roles that I could embark on. Job hunting was relentless: I faced countless rejections from recruiters. Until Meta decided to take a chance on me. I remember being absolutely 𝙛𝙡𝙖𝙗𝙗𝙚𝙧𝙜𝙖𝙨𝙩𝙚𝙙 when I got the shortlist email, when in my mind I believed that I would be “𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘢𝘯𝘰𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘤𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘪𝘥𝘢𝘵𝘦” to them. After receiving the shortlist, I told myself day in and day out that I 𝗛𝗔𝗗 to secure the role. I spent weeks preparing for all 4 rounds of the interview (this led to a 20 page Google Doc covering my personal brand, experiences, as well as thorough research and understanding of the company). When I received the job offer, it was truly an indescribable feeling of jubilation. It was one of the best feelings in the world. Because I knew that all my efforts were worth it in the end. I’ll always be grateful that Meta saw something in me that I didn’t see in myself. Looking back now, these are the 3 lessons I learnt: 🥚 𝗗𝗼𝗻’𝘁 𝗽𝘂𝘁 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗲𝗴𝗴𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗯𝗮𝘀𝗸𝗲𝘁. I was banking solely on securing the internship conversion, which eventually fell through. Diversifying my bets across multiple companies rather than waiting for the conversion would have maximised my chances of success. 🚪 𝗔𝗹𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗱𝗼𝗼𝗿 𝗰𝗹𝗼𝘀𝗲𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗻𝘀. Closed doors shouldn't be seen as dead ends; they're simply detours. Persistence is key. When one door closes, keep knocking, exploring, and learning. 🔴 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗰𝗮𝗻'𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗼𝘁𝘀 𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱. 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗼𝗻𝗹𝘆 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺 𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱. With every rejection, I was questioning my self-worth. Now, I can see how this challenging experience shaped my skills, confidence, and ultimately, my path. Life is like a puzzle – you can't see the complete picture until all the pieces are laid out. Most importantly, the right company will see you for who you are and value you. Don’t give up! 👏

I'm incredibly excited to share that I'll be joining AI at Meta as a Production Engineer, working on #Pytorch! Here's what it took to get a job at Meta in 2024: 1. Resume with internships from #PlayStation, #Amazon and #Tesla and side projects with tens of thousands of users, and the experience gained from them. 2. Volunteer experience in systems administration at UW Computer Science Club from which I could share anecdotes of server troubleshooting. 3. Half a dozen applications on #MetaCareers (all of the #newgrad jobs that suited my qualifications), to get noticed and contacted by a recruiter. 4. 8 rounds of interviews: OA, coding phone screen, systems internals phone screen, systems troubleshooting virtual on-site (VO), 2 coding VOs, behavioral VO, team match sell call. 5. Have a hiring manager want you on their team. Total duration: 3 months from first application to #OfferAccepted. I'd like to thank: - Krizia Doyle for your initial outreach about the job.
