“As a Canadian, I am extremely proud and happy to see the kind of work that a company like Empowered Startups is doing because I think it is bringing great benefits to the relationship between our two countries, but also, I believe, to the economic cohesion of a country like Portugal.” - Elise Racicot “If we build a critical mass here, investing initially into the innovation research ecosystem, we really can't fail, and we're going to create considerably great impacts for the country. So, let's continue to explore those opportunities together.” - Christopher Lennon “I believe, and we at the University of Coimbra (Universidade de Coimbra) believe, that this is the right path to be able to improve both scientific performance, academic performance, and, with this, also maximize the economic return to the country.” - Nuno Mendonça The Portugal HQA® Visa Program is creating cohesion through collaboration, and support is growing as quickly as the program itself. This visa supports the growth of innovative and sustainable startups that can contribute significantly to Portugal’s economy. Last week’s developments have caused a stir among both current expats and those aspiring to move to Portugal. 🇵🇹 Despite changes, it's crucial to note that the visa route remains a solid entryway into the country. The previous system, with its manifestation of interest, compounded by the chaotic state of the managing public entity, resulted in 400,000 pending requests, frustrating many. This called for a much-needed overhaul. The visa route, notably quicker and more efficient, is still open. One option to consider is the “STARTUP VISA” – Art. 89.º, N.º 4, designed for entrepreneurs looking to invest and create jobs in Portugal. This program supports the integration into a startup incubator, offering incentives under the StartUP Portugal Program to bolster the innovation ecosystem. It aims to position Portugal as a welcoming hub for entrepreneurial talent using innovation to contribute to the economy. 🤗 Another excellent path is the Tech Visa, an accreditation program that allows Portuguese companies to fast-track the hiring of highly qualified non-Schengen professionals. This facilitates easier recruitment of skilled workers from outside the EU, enhancing the local talent pool. Moreover, the Residence Authorisation for Self-Employed Persons with a Residence Visa - Art. 89(1) is active and viable. 🌟 If navigating these options seems daunting, I’m here to help! I can help create your company, I can register you as freelancer, and I can help you flourish here in Portugal. Comment “YES” and let’s chat. #LighthouseConsulting #PortugalBusiness #ExpatsInPortugal #PortugalLife #ExpatPortugal #PortugalEntrepreneurs #MovingtoPortugal #Paperworks #StartingBusiness #PaperworkSucks

Here are some key insights from the research: 👉 Chile stands as the most startup-friendly nation in Latin America, outpacing Brazil, which is otherwise the top country in the region based on overall rankings. 👉 Mexico is ranked one spot higher than its overall position in the region, excelling in areas such as labor laws, regulatory openness, and passport strength. 👉 Colombia, holding the third place for startup friendliness, also ranks one spot above its general regional standing, highlighted by strengths in university infrastructure, startup and digital nomad visa policies, and a diversity index. 👉 Brazil ranks three spots lower in the startup-friendliness ranking compared to its overall regional rank, hindered by parameters such as the English proficiency index, corporate taxes, and labor laws. Brazil's lack of a common language and lower English proficiency present additional challenges for its startups in reaching out to regional and global markets 👉 For countries ranked 5th to 8th, their positions are perfectly stable, aligning with their regional rankings. Notably, Panama (9th) outperforms Ecuador (10th). Many thanks to StartupBlink for providing these insights. #startups #latam

Why Spain’s Economy is Outpacing the Rest of Europe Spain is breaking records and expectations, projected to be the fastest-growing major advanced economy in the world this year. With growth triple that of the Eurozone and even surpassing the U.S., it’s time we uncover the driving forces behind this economic surge: ✅ A Thriving Tech Ecosystem Spain’s startup scene is flourishing! From Barcelona’s Supercomputing Centre to tax-friendly policies like the 2022 Startup Law, the country is proving itself as a global hub for innovation. Tech giants like Cabify, Glovo, and TravelPerk are showing the world that Spain can compete with the best. ✅ Global Talent Magnet With world-class universities and EU-funded research, Spain isn’t just keeping talent—it’s attracting it. Cities like Madrid, Valencia, and Málaga are emerging tech hubs, making Spain a multi-faceted powerhouse. ✅ Investment Boom In 2023 alone, Spanish startups surpassed €100 billion in value and raised €2.2 billion across 850+ funding rounds. Investors are realizing the vast potential of building high-growth companies right here in Spain. But it’s not all smooth sailing. While GDP growth leads the world, challenges like low productivity, youth unemployment, and income inequality persist. Addressing these issues means investing more in R&D, incentivizing entrepreneurship, and creating a sustainable housing market for locals. Spain’s future as Europe’s economic jewel depends on bold action. We must foster innovation, empower startups, and encourage international investment to drive sustained growth. What do you think? How can Spain continue this upward trajectory?👇 ACCOMPANY Spain is an English-speaking consulting firm providing services for international investors and companies in Spain. Golden Visas Evolving: From Passive Investments to Active, Entrepreneurial Contributions Across Europe, Golden Visa programs are evolving, shifting from passive, transactional investments in real estate and bonds to more dynamic, impact-driven investments. Portugal removed real estate as an eligible option. Spain has taken it a step further, considering ending the program entirely, while Greece has introduced startup investment pathways alongside its real estate options. Italy has had a startup investment route option for a couple of years now. This is incredibly interesting. At World Talents, we are fully aligned with this new direction that Governments might take on their Golden Visa methodology. Our company partners with investors, entrepreneurs, and corporate executives to bring foreign direct investment and the transfer of expertise to Portugal, supporting innovation within university R&D and technology campuses. Through our work, global talent engages in high-impact activities that strengthen Portugal’s startup and research ecosystems, especially via our service agreement for the Global Talent Portugal Program through the Atividade Altamente Qualificada (AAQ) residence route. These policy shifts from Governments highlight a new era for golden visas—one that rewards not just financial contributions but active partnerships that drive sustainable growth. For forward-thinking investors, these programs now offer a unique opportunity to contribute to economic futures of an economy. Could we see a dramatic shift in the thought process behind other Governments around Europe and how they will structure Golden Visa programs in the future? Let me know your thoughts below 🤔 💭 #goldenvisa #entrepreneurship #globaltalent #realestate #acceleration #incubation #startups #AAQ
