October is Patient-Centered Care Awareness Month and this week we will discuss what "patient-centered care" means. This definition from the WHO encompasses 2 important pieces to the patient-centered care puzzle - the care must be "tailored to people's needs" AND "provided in partnership with them". Health services should not be a one-way street or provided with a one size fits all approach. Creating a partnership leads to personalized care. Did you know that Samaritan is a patient-centered care organization? Patient-centered care is a healthcare approach that respects and responds to the preferences, needs, and values of patients, ensuring that patient values guide all clinical decisions. This concept emphasizes the importance of involving patients in their own healthcare decisions and treating them as partners in the treatment process. . Some of the key elements in patient-centered care are: respect for patient preferences, coordinated and integrated care, information and education, emotional support, involvement of family and friends, and physical comfort. . It’s about seeing the patient as a whole person, not just a set of symptoms, and working collaboratively to achieve the best possible health outcomes. #SamaritanMedicalCenter #SamaritanHealth #PatientCenteredCare #Healthcare #Empowerment #QualityCare

Recently, Professor Paul Corrigan, former Labour health adviser in #UK, recently emphasized a vital truth: the future of sustainable healthcare lies in patient empowerment—giving individuals the tools, knowledge, and confidence to actively manage their well-being. At Mayapada Healthcare, we’ve witnessed the transformative power of patient involvement. A standout success? Patients who engaged in their own care during hospitalization not only accelerated their recovery but also made caring at home a seamless experience for their families. It makes everything great- prevent errors, improve discharge time etc. It’s a win-win—better outcomes for patients and less strain on caregivers. Ps: picture was taken while a internal life support training💪🏻 where again a patient can benefit if a caregiver knows it! #HealthcareRevolution #PatientPower #TransformingCare #SustainableHealthcare

In healthcare, trust is everything. When patients trust their providers, they’re more likely to share concerns, ask questions, and stick with treatment plans—leading to better health outcomes and stronger patient-provider relationships. But when trust falters, so does patient engagement. Miscommunication, inconsistent care, and systemic issues can create barriers that lead patients to question the system meant to protect their well-being. How can healthcare rebuild and protect this essential trust? It starts with transparency, empathy, and prioritizing the patient’s voice in every interaction. Let’s explore strategies for strengthening trust in healthcare 👉 https://lnkd.in/eQcPu8yb #HealthcareTrust #PandemicResponse #Transparency #PublicHealth #Trust
