THE GREATEST COMPLIMENT TO A RECRUITER! This week marked exactly 7.5 years since our first placement, an Account Manager, at City Vision. Fast forward to today, it has been a great pleasure watching them grow to be one of the largest, most innovative OOH companies in Indonesia. To date we have placed over 40 candidates, with the majority of them are managerial-level and above. One of our proudest moments was when the owners invited us to the opening of their new, much larger & very comfortable office. They hosted & showed us around, and while at the conference room, one of the owners said, "𝐖𝐞 𝐰𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝𝐧'𝐭 𝐛𝐞 𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐢𝐟 𝐢𝐭 𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧'𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐡𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐮𝐬. 𝐓𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐤 𝐲𝐨𝐮." If you are a recruiter, you would know the feeling – this is why we do what we do. There are no greater compliments. Learn more about how match recruitment Indonesia assisted City Vision during their critical, transformational period where they needed to hire a new core team, ASAP. 👇 Check the comments for the link to our detailed case study! #recruitmentindonesia #headhunter #executivesearchindonesia #recruitment #talentacquisition #recruitmentjourney #executivesearch #leadershiphiring #cityvision

🫵 𝗧𝗵𝗲 ‘𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗬𝗼𝘂?’ 𝗤𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝗮 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝗲𝗶𝗴𝗻 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘁: 𝗠𝘆 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 “𝘞𝘩𝘺 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘸𝘦 𝘩𝘪𝘳𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘪𝘯𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘢𝘥 𝘰𝘧 𝘴𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘭𝘰𝘤𝘢𝘭?” This question came up during several interviews in France, where I’ve never worked before. It makes you pause—not out of doubt, but because it forces you to articulate something deeper: 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲𝘀 𝗺𝗲 𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗾𝘂𝗲? Here’s how I answered: 🌟 𝗜 𝗧𝗵𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗨𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘁𝘆 Growing up and working in Indonesia—one of the world’s most dynamic markets—taught me to 𝗽𝗶𝘃𝗼𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘂𝗻𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗰𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆. Shifting regulations, volatile economies, and diverse stakeholders? I see them as 𝗼𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝗱𝗮𝗽𝘁. 🔗 𝗜 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝗕𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗴𝗲𝘀, 𝗡𝗼𝘁 𝗝𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗲𝘀 In Indonesia, 𝗿𝗲𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻’𝘁 𝗮 𝗯𝗼𝗻𝘂𝘀—they’re the foundation of business. I’ve learned to 𝗻𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗴𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗻𝘂𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝘁𝗿𝘂𝘀𝘁 across borders and industries. In a globalized workplace like France, this ability to connect authentically is more valuable than ever. 👓 𝗜 𝗕𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝗙𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗵 𝗟𝗲𝗻𝘀 Stepping into the French market as an outsider allows me to 𝘀𝗲𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝗱𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗹𝘆. I don’t just adapt to local practices—I combine them with global perspectives to offer innovative solutions. 𝗜𝘁’𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗯𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗯𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿; 𝗶𝘁’𝘀 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗴𝘁𝗵𝘀. 🤝 𝗜’𝘃𝗲 𝗔𝗹𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘆 𝗔𝗱𝗮𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗱 I came to France speaking minimal French, but within months, I immersed myself in the culture and language. My ability to 𝗮𝗱𝗮𝗽𝘁, 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗲𝗻𝘃𝗶𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 reflects my commitment to growth and resilience. Answering the “𝘄𝗵𝘆 𝘆𝗼𝘂?” question isn’t about dismissing local talent. 𝗜𝘁’𝘀 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝗱𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝘀𝘆𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝘆. My Indonesian roots and global outlook don’t replace local expertise—they enhance it. To my network: Have you faced the “𝘄𝗵𝘆 𝘆𝗼𝘂?” question, explicitly or implicitly? How did you embrace what makes you different to stand out? Let’s discuss—I’d love to hear your stories! #DiversityAndInclusion #GlobalPerspective #CareerJourney #Leadership #CrossCulturalCollaboration #Resilience #GrowthMindset #ProfessionalDevelopment

My boss only wants a Mandarin speaker. But, but, but - can a Malay or Indian do the job? This is my conversation with some of my clients before signing them up. It might sound a bit sensitive but this is the reality of recruitment in Malaysia. We live in a multiracial country with diverse skillsets and limiting the search to a specific race restricts our talent pool. As Mr. Arulkumar Singaraveloo aptly put it: “Unless your business genuinely requires a Mandarin-speaking candidate, do consider others who also possess the skill. Otherwise, you will be searching for the perfect candidate from a limited pool and may end up with employees who can't meet your expectations.” Ironically, when I was the Global Head of HR with an advertising firm, I hired software developers from China and only spoke to them in English. Use simpler communication and you will win the game. As we approach 2025, let’s improve our hiring practices and continue empowering the world of work with top talents. #GDSpeaks #malaysiahrforum #techstreet #humanresources #recruitment #talentacquisition #hiring #jobsearch #jobseekers #careers

👋 A quick update - I realized that adding recruitment as a core service is absolutely necessary for High Five. When I first founded High Five, my vision was solely to build an Employer of Record company. 🤝 But after speaking with customers and prospects, it was clear that they all needed some form of recruitment as a service. The reason why? It's quite obvious now in retrospect. As a founder operating in Indonesia, I’ve recruited hundreds of product and engineer folks in Indonesia over my career. 👀 Scanning over a resume, within seconds, I can immediately tell if a candidate is promising and worth speaking to. But for a hiring manager unfamiliar with Indonesia, candidate resumes must seem like gibberish. The names of local companies, universities, and professional certifications are often unrecognizable 🔴. To address this challenge, we've been working closely with our customers to help them recruit and secure Indonesia’s top tech talent. We go beyond candidate sourcing - we thoroughly screen, interview, and assess candidates based on our customer's specific requirements. The process has been incredibly rewarding as I’ve been able to meet and chat with the most amazing talent: ▪ Outstanding graduates from Indonesia's premier institutions like Universitas Indonesia and Institut Teknologi Bandung. ▪ Overachieving graduates from universities in the USA, UK, Japan, Taiwan, China, and more - many of whom earned full-ride scholarships. ▪ Former employees of Indonesian unicorns and IPO’d companies such as Gojek, Tokopedia, Bukalapak, Traveloka and Xendit (to name just a few). ▪ Highly skilled product, engineering, and data professionals with deep expertise and a commitment to excellence in their respective fields. By expanding our services to include recruitment, High Five is better positioned to meet our customer needs and connect them with Indonesia's brightest minds. ❤️ I’m super excited about this new direction and now seeking ways to streamline and improve our workflows. Am I headed the in the right direction? Is recruiting talent in unfamiliar markets a challenge for you? What is your approach when hiring international talent? I'd love to hear your thoughts, experiences and insights in the comments below! 👇 #entrepreneurship #startups #recruitment #indonesia
