While we may have reached a consensus on the importance of sports education, we are still grappling with how much time and resources young people should dedicate to sports. India's performance at the 2024 Olympics and the disproportionate relationship between its population and the number of medals won has raised concerns about the sports facilities available to the country’s youth and the effectiveness of our system to identify and nurture talent. As we reflect on this, we urge you to take this introspection further. Training athletes to win medals on the international stage requires top-notch facilities. Is our performance at the global level a reflection of just the lack of such facilities, or does it point to a more systemic issue? We know that sports are also crucial for the overall development of an individual. If we truly lack a system that ensures every child has access to sports education, are we significantly hindering the physical, mental, and social growth of our youth? Read on to discover how Enabling Leadership's Play program uses football to help children from under-resourced backgrounds develop essential leadership skills and grow into responsible citizens. . . #sportsdevelopment #sportsforall #sportsperson #lifeofanathlete #sportsindia #experientiallearning #sportsmanship #qualityeducation #sdg4 #fifafoundation #ballforall #footballforchildren #soccerclub #lifeskillsdevelopment #learningthroughplay #cricketindia #teamspirit #sportsforchildren #nonprofitorganization #ngoindia #paris2024 #parisolympics #olympics2024 #indiaatolympics

Life is all about learning, loosing, rising and moving on. "Moving on" can be a win, or sharpening your sword, but it is always relative. Each one's life revolves around these few things in a loop. What is very critical in life is to experience all these with acceptance. Sports and learning through sports bring in a very practical set of skillsets which blend with the entire life of a child, if exposed to at an early age. Importance of giving equal weightage to sports along with academics is very crucial thus. We at Enabling Leadership Global try to bring in football in the early years from Grade 4 onwards to expose the children in this sport and also mindfully inculcate the life skill learning from football as a transferable skill to them.

Ever wonder why India didn’t win a single gold at the Paris Olympics? The answer isn’t as simple as blaming the athletes. The real issue starts in our classrooms. Sports are often sidelined in favor of extra academic classes, reflecting a broader mindset that undervalues physical education. Students are under immense pressure—school from 7 to 3, tuitions from 4 to 6, homework till 9, and in the rare free moments, they're given mobile phones to keep them occupied. Contrast this with schools in China, where sports are a major part of the curriculum. For instance, in specialized sports schools, children spend most of their day in rigorous athletic training, with academics taking a secondary role. This focus on sports from a young age helps them excel in international competitions, including the Olympics. This neglect of sports in our education system stifles the growth of potential athletes. By focusing solely on grades, we miss out on nurturing future champions. I urge all parents, current and future, to prioritize the overall development of their children. Swap some of that screen time and tutoring with sports. If we want to see our athletes on the podium in the future, we need to start valuing sports today. P.S. - Huge respect to all the athletes who represented India at the Olympics. Whether they brought home a medal or not, they’ve already sacrificed so much to get there. Let’s give them the respect they deserve. #SupportSports. #Olympics2024 #IndiaForGold #SportsInEducation #FutureChampions #AthleteDevelopment #PhysicalEducationMatters #BalanceAcademicsAndSports #RespectOurAthletes #NextGenAthletes

How Sports Enhance Academic Life and Personal Development Sports are an integral part of academic life, offering more than just physical fitness. They are a powerful tool for holistic development, teaching students valuable life skills that go beyond textbooks. The benefits of sports in a student’s life are extensive, positively influencing academic performance, personal growth, and social skills. 1. Improves Focus and Academic Performance Engaging in sports requires discipline, strategic thinking, and concentration—all of which are essential for academic success. Research shows that students who participate in sports are better at time management and tend to have higher focus levels, resulting in improved academic performance. 2. Builds Leadership and Teamwork Skills Sports are one of the best ways to learn teamwork and leadership. Being part of a team teaches students how to communicate effectively, support each other, and work toward a common goal. These are vital skills not only for academics but for life beyond school. 3. Develops Resilience and Stress Management Sports instill resilience by pushing students to overcome challenges, whether it’s facing defeat or striving for improvement. Learning how to manage both victory and failure helps students handle stress more effectively, equipping them to navigate challenges with confidence. 4. Promotes Health and Well-being Sports contribute to physical fitness, but the benefits go deeper. Physical activity boosts mental health, reduces stress, and improves mood through the release of endorphins. Students who participate in sports are more likely to enjoy a balanced lifestyle and maintain a positive outlook. #Sports as Profession: India’s struggle to win Olympic medals, despite its massive population, reflects deep systemic issues in both education and politics. Education System: Sports are often overshadowed by academics, with schools lacking facilities and societal pressure pushing students towards traditional careers. Many still don’t see sports as a legitimate profession. Political System: Corruption, mismanagement, and favoritism plague sports administration. Instead of nurturing athletes, the system seems more focused on producing tax-paying professionals. What Needs to Change: A cultural shift is needed to value sports alongside academics, backed by government accountability and investment in talent. Until then, the potential of India’s athletes will remain unrealized on the global stage. Hats off to those who dared to think beyond the norm, pursuing sports in a system that prioritizes producing tax-paying professionals over nurturing athletes. These trailblazers challenge the status quo and show that with the right mindset, India’s potential on the global sports stage is limitless. #IndianSports #Olympics #EducationReform #SportsInIndia #SportsForAll #AthleteSupport #CulturalShift #Accountability #TalentDevelopment #BeyondTheNorm #SportsVsAcademics #IndianAthletes #ChangeTheSystem #SportsProfession #olympics2024

Olympics 2024: A Wake-Up Call for India's Education System and Sports Development The 2024 Olympics have imparted some critical lessons. Many in India believe that our athletes should be winning gold medals, yet we find ourselves asking why countries like the United States and China consistently dominate the medal tally. The answer is evident if we look closely. It’s easy to criticize or post memes on social media about India's lack of medals compared to these nations, but the truth is deeper. The key difference lies in their focus on practical skills, holistic development, and a strong emphasis on sports from a young age, rather than just theoretical knowledge. I firmly believe that India can win more medals, but this will only happen if we address the root of the issue—our education system. From the moment a child steps into school, they are pushed toward traditional bookish learning, with little emphasis on extracurricular activities, including sports. Schools and colleges often neglect the importance of nurturing well-rounded individuals who excel not only in academics but also in sports and other practical fields. There are many more Neeraj Choras in India—talented individuals who can excel on the world stage if given the right support and opportunities from a young age. To unlock this potential, we must make sports a mandatory part of the curriculum in schools, colleges, and universities. By mandating games and physical education, we can nurture future champions and see the results in the next Olympics. It’s time for a change. We need to reform our education system by encouraging the development of practical skills and a stronger focus on sports. Games and physical education should be as integral to the curriculum as any academic subject. I urge Education Minister Shri Dharmendra Pradhan to take a closer look at this issue. We must integrate practical knowledge, skill-building, and sports training into the curriculum, ensuring that our children are prepared for overall development. This holistic approach will enhance their potential to win medals on the global stage, bringing pride to the nation. #Olympics2024 #SportsDevelopment #EducationReform #PracticalLearning #HolisticEducation #IndiaInSports #FutureChampions #NeerajChopra #YouthEmpowerment #SportsInEducation #EducationMatters #SkillDevelopment #NextGeneration #SportsForAll #WinningMindset

As the Olympics approach, the media and public will once again focus on sports, but despite initiatives like Khelo India, we still lag behind by 30-40 years. For example in Athletics, India has only five officially approved (Class 1) Athletics tracks for its vast population of 1.4 billion, with most of them concentrated in urban areas. Rural India, where talent abounds, lacks quality infrastructure and coaches. Although some progress has been made, politics continues to influence sports associations, with 95% of them headed by politicians who may not have a deep understanding of the sports they oversee. This affects the support and recognition given to athletes from various disciplines. While it's heartening to see the government sending additional support staff of 72 to the Paris Olympics, the grassroots level remains neglected. As someone responsible for conducting intercollegiate competitions, I often face interference from politicians and institution heads during selection processes. There's a lack of knowledge about sports policies, execution, and community engagement. Even when schools invest in infrastructure, they often restrict access to the community, missing opportunities to nurture future talent. Let's work together to make a change, whether as physical educators, coaches, managers, or facilitators. By collaborating, sharing knowledge, and connecting, we can contribute to making India a multisport loving nation and improve our performance in the Olympics and beyond. #Olympics #India #fitness #physicaleducation #multisports #kheloindia #ruraltalent #SAI #fitindia #sports #grassroot Note: Although the journey to becoming a multisports nation is long and challenging, let's stay united and focused on taking the next step towards our goal, one step at a time like we do in trekking.

Building Champions from School Playgrounds to Podiums 👨🎓 !! Ever wondered how champions are made? It always begins with a single step - often on a school playground One of the core foundations of a student’s academic success and personal development lies in sports. For ages, it has been viewed as a way to stay healthy and fit, but it goes beyond that. By actively engaging in sports, students foster a sense of teamwork, leadership, confidence, and accountability. These are essential qualities carried by successful sportsmen today, that proudly represent our nation in areas like Cricket, Football, and Hockey and are currently serving as an inspiration for young athletes today. But there is a problem ? While the positive impact of sports can be seen in today’s young athletes, there is a lack of scope in our country for them to showcase their excellence on the field. India houses a sea of talent in the field of sports, but issues like lack of infrastructure, marketing, and funding have held back aspiring athletes looking to make their mark in what they used to love since their school days. Cricket is a household name in Indian sports, but more exposure can be given to other sports by Building more state-of-the-art facilities Identifying young talent through grass-roots programs Building community engagement through local sporting events Establishing sports universities and clubs What are the other ways you think India can make sports mainstream? Teacher: "Hi Class, since our syllabus is left behind, I will take your games period." Parent: "Son, there's nothing to be gained from sports. Sharma ji's son scored 90%. Learn something from him. No more playing from tomorrow." Politician: "There are so many problems in the country, why spend so much on sports? What will we even gain from it?" Random Guy watching olympics (In depression😅): "shit man, we are at 71st position in medal rankings, what a poor performance by us" This system+The poor Mindset towards sports often sidelines the true potential this country carries in sports, hindering the development of future athletes. No doubt India’s tropical climate also poses challenges, limiting the flexibility and endurance crucial for Olympic success. But these obstacles aren’t insurmountable. What can we do? 1. Prioritize Sports Early: Integrate sports into the curriculum from the start. 2. Invest in Training: Build academies nationwide, especially in rural areas. 3. Tailored Training: Adapt training to our climate's unique demands. 4. Promote Sports Culture: Shift societal views to see sports as a viable career. 5. Long-Term Athlete Development: Focus on holistic athlete growth, including mental health and career planning. 6: Cheer for Every Sports: let's cheer for every sports in our country And most important thing #PositiveMindsetTowardsSports and believing in #KhelgaKudegaTohBhiBanegaNawab #ItsNeverTooLateAyegaSwarnPadakBharBharKe #Olympics #IndiaSports #GrassrootsDevelopment #FutureChampions #parisOlympics2024 #IOC
