Members of our Enbridge Gas team joined the Utah Food Bank to serve over 300 children from local after-school programs a warm Thanksgiving meal through the Kids Cafe program. The evening featured delicious food, laughter, and unforgettable moments as kids enjoyed turkey, mashed potatoes, and pumpkin pie while dancing along with the Trash Panda Drum Group.
This event is more than a meal—it’s about community, connection, and ensuring every child feels supported during the holiday season. We are proud to partner with Utah Food Bank to continue this meaningful tradition.
Thank you to everyone who helped make the evening such a success.

The British philosopher John Gray wrote,
“We are who we are because of the places in which we grow up, the accents and friends we acquire by chance, the burdens we have not chosen but somehow learn to cope with. Real communities are always local-places in which people have put down roots and are willing to put up with the burdens of living together..."
Places, roots, accents, friends, loyalties, caring, burdens & responsibilities. An authentic & organic community is held together by a set of first principles or virtues and values just like a built structure is supported by a firm foundation, by brick and mortar, stone & concrete, by sets of columns & beams etc. In the case of the physical structure, remove the supports and the structure will come tumbling down, collapsing under its own weight into a pile of rubble. The same is true of organic communities which are also like structures, built with effort, care, love and compassion over long spans of time, held in place by the firm supports of human values and the glue of human relationships. Without love, caring and compassion, without commitment, without the willingness to shoulder duties & responsibilities, local communities cannot survive, cannot thrive. Keep up the good work.

Creating community takes willingness, compassion and caring enough to step up where help is needed and when it is needed.
Early morning at Abbey Lane Public School in #Oakville representating Halton Food for Thought to get to know their sit in breakfast program that is run 💯 with the support of community volunteers and financial support from Halton Food for Thought.
What a joy to see over 70 children out of under 300 kids at the school come in and have breakfast and see smiling faces. Every day the breakfast program makes sure that all kids who come hungry to school have nourishing food to feed them and kick start their day not being “hangry”! It was watermelon, grilled cheese, yogurt and milk today on the menu👍🏽

📢 **Attention Parents and Guardians!** 🌞
As summer rolls in, many families might be feeling the pinch with the kids at home. If you're worried about ensuring your little ones get a hot meal every day without breaking the bank, we've got some fantastic news for you!
Across the UK, numerous cafes are stepping up to support families by offering meals for kids either for free or for under £1. These generous offers can be a lifesaver, especially during the school holidays when school-provided meals are unavailable.
This summer, let’s make sure no child goes hungry.
**Why This Matters:**
1. **Affordable Dining**: Families can enjoy meals out without worrying about high costs.
2. **Nutritious Options**: Many of these cafes ensure that the meals are both delicious and nutritious.
3. **Community Support**: Supporting these cafes also helps local businesses thrive.
By sharing this information, we can help ease the burden for many families during the holidays. Spread the word and let’s make this summer a little brighter for everyone.
Bon Appétit! 🍽️💖

☀ Summer doesn't bring excitement to every child; for some, it brings uncertainty and fear. While summer gives kids a break from the stress and demands of school, it also means looking to access to meal programs they rely on during the school year. Many children in BC rely on school meals as a primary source of nutrition. But when summer arrives, these meals disappear, leaving countless kids facing hunger. Recently, I connected with Sonia Sunger of Global News BC Morning.
https://lnkd.in/g-s5r47b
I shared how Backpack Buddies BC works to address the weekend hunger gap and the challenge we face. During the summer months our primary source of distribution changes as our partner schools close for the break. As a result, our program numbers dramatically reduce. Our dream is to see full continuity of the Backpack Buddies program– ensuring 12 months of food security for children on our program. Costs have skyrocketed and the profound sense of demand and the need– it’s crushing to us and the families we support. For the first time in our history, we have a wait list with over 40 sites that need support.
🙋♀️ How can you help? We're calling on companies and community organizations to join us in this critical mission. I’d love to hear from you and talk about how we can collaborate to raise awareness of the weekend hunger gap and feed more kids this summer.
Let’s work together to make this summer one of excitement, hope and nourishment for all children. 🌞

December - it's the season for giving, a season of light, and a season for spreading goodwill. The newest issue of #PWLiving is out, and we're eager to share what it's all about. Read on!

At Share Our Strength, we’re proud to launch #NoKidHungry’s CEO Pledge to End Summer, a national movement rallying CEOs across industries to invest dollars, raise awareness and use their voices to help feed more kids throughout the summer months.
We arrived at a pivotal inflection point when Congress passed the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2023, bipartisan legislation that allocates funding to provide kids with summertime meals. This was a huge milestone in No Kid Hungry’s long standing fight to expand access to summer meals for kids. But federal legislation is just the beginning.
By committing to this pledge, CEOs, and their companies, are supporting our collective effort to ensure communities have the resources they need to implement the new USDA summer meals programs and increase the number of children receiving summer meals from 2.8 million to 30 million.
We believe this is the type of collective action that will get us closer to ending summer hunger and making #NoKidHungry a reality.
