"Will a Roth IRA grow more than my 401(k)?" 🤔 We receive some version of this question all the time. A Roth IRA is an account type, not an investment itself. WITHIN that account, you could purchase nearly any stock, bond, mutual fund, ETF, etc. you want. Those are investments. When you make contributions to a Roth IRA, the money will simply sit there in cash or a money market fund until it is directed to further investment choice(s). So, to wonder whether your Roth will do better than your 401(k) may not be the right question. A couple that may be more relevant? -Will the investments in my Roth perform better than those in my 401(k)? -Will the tax treatment of my Roth IRA and 401(k) make a difference in future income prospects from those accounts? This "account type" conversation applies to many other accounts and tools as well! (i.e. Non-qualified brokerage, 403(b), Roth 401(k), Bank savings accounts, etc.) Want to dive into all of these different tools in more detail? Let's connect! 🙂
