𝗣𝘂𝘀𝗵𝗽 𝗞𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗿 𝗝𝗼𝘀𝗵𝗶 🌱 Reflecting on a truly memorable experience that reinforced the power of adaptability and lifelong learning, inspired by none other than Dr. Pushp Joshi , former #Chairman & #Managing #Director of Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL). Though I missed his session, "𝘓𝘪𝘧𝘦𝘭𝘰𝘯𝘨 𝘓𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘈𝘥𝘢𝘱𝘵𝘢𝘣𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘺: 𝘓𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘴 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘗𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘭 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘗𝘳𝘰𝘧𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘭 𝘑𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘯𝘦𝘺," due to other commitments, I was fortunate enough to meet Dr. Joshi ji later in our campus the other day. In that brief interaction, he shared invaluable insights that have left a lasting impression. He emphasized the importance of cultivating a "𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘥"—to observe and understand before speaking, and to grasp the profound difference between reacting and responding. He also discussed Social Intelligence and the importance of defining ourselves in ways that go beyond our work, allowing others to see and connect with us on a deeper level. Joshi sir emphasized the value of a constant connection with ourselves and how essential it is to find an anchor—a grounding force that keeps us balanced. He explained the importance of not becoming overly absorbed in any one lifestyle and the need to practice detachment to maintain perspective. This guidance was not only inspiring but incredibly practical for my own #personal and #professional #growth. As we all know that most important resource among all the resources is The Human Resource ,( be it Fresher or be it a person with rich experience). We need to keep each and every individual of our team, till they say Goodbye. The Leaders have to be honed in such a way that, they need to find out the Traits within each and every individual and use them in the Right Place. BUT OUR LEADERS FAIL TO DO SO , AND THEY MOVE THE BANNER OF FAILURE ON THE BACK OF RESOURCES. Each and every individual has some good traits, but we fail to dig out that and fail to put in the right place. Why , this - In this modern Business World no one likes to put their energy and time on Human Resource. Leaders need to invest their time and energy with in the Team on the shop floor. This we have failed to learned from our previous Generations, who used to earn trust and belongingness along with money. That is the reason the BRANDS are existing today, otherwise every new company is a Bubble. Still we have time to learn from our previous peers and start the new start.
I often wonder what defines a true leader. Is it the ability to inspire and the strength to initiate change, or the intent to connect individual growth with a collective purpose? Or may be a fusion of all these elements? The topic of 'Managers' came up, sparking some interesting insights. During my time at IIM, I took various courses on understanding human behavior and people management. However, it's only now, in the professional world, that I truly see the impact of these lessons. One key takeaway from my work experience is the crucial role a manager plays in our performance and well-being. During a weekend visit to Jamshedpur, Ratan Tata was in Jamshedpur noticed the support staff toilets were filthy while the officer toilets were clean. He called the manager and asked, "Why are the worker toilets in such poor condition when the officer toilets are spotless?" The manager had no answer, leaving Tata disappointed. The manager promised, "Don't worry, sir, I will get it fixed in a month." "That's too long. I would rather get it done in 30 minutes," said Ratan Tata, calling the plumber. It still took three days, but the worker toilets were fixed. As a leader, you can't win if you treat the team unequally. From the support staff to the CEO, everyone's role in the organization is essential. Things run smoothly because everyone decides to get up and do their job diligently.
