We're thrilled to announce our newest partnership with the HAN University of Applied Sciences in the Netherlands! 🎓💡 Through this engagement, HAART will be offering international students an opportunity to intern with us giving them a front-row seat on understanding the manifestation of #humantrafficking in Kenya and how they can take action beyond their program curriculum. The program equips students with the skills, techniques and knowledge to connect with and empower diverse people, use creative means in social work, and work with international communities.' Given that the students are studying social work they understand trauma-informed and victim approaches, crucial tools that will inform their future work as they take care of vulnerable communities. Together, we're empowering the next generation of changemakers by offering students the opportunity to intern with us in the fight against human trafficking. 💪 #FightHumanTrafficking #HAARTKenya #HANUniversity

Together with my outstanding colleague Daniele Aitis I gave a talk on meta-analysis and systematic reviews. Usually, I wouldn't offer to give a presentation, but recently, I have suggested colleagues to speak on particular topics, and the professor has welcomed my suggestions also, the people I have suggested have gladly accepted my #recommendation. Even though I consider myself to be a good communicator some have viewed me as a meeting facilitator, which is a skill I am consciously starting to hone. And despite my doubts, I seized the chance to present with all my heart because I believe that taking advantage of situations that put me in the spotlight are brave things to do. I appreciate the chance, Professor Giulio Costantini #systematicreview #presentation #communication #grantproposal #eur #europe #masters #intern #appliedpsychology #research #universitylife #PhD #africa #communitydevelopment #sdg #eu #psychology #business

Present is a powerful thing: It can show us the bitter realities of social injustice, inaccessibility to opportunities, and racial/gender discrimination which persists worldwide, all the while providing us with the platform, the resources, and the inspiration to make an impact against societal shortcomings. Here is what we know: At present, the majority of SDGs targets are unmet. At present, as many as 35% of girls in the developing world dropped out of education during COVID-19. At present, 160 million children are still forced into child labour across the globe. You have the liberty to make a conscious decision based on these facts: Either you can ignore the developmental aspirations of vulnerable communities... Or you can choose to go bold, voice your opinions, and make a social impact! Unsure where to begin? Why not start with the Peace Gong Fellowship? Are scholarships for developing countries like Ethiopia effectively utilized, or are we applying blindly? Are you actively seeking scholarships or experiencing rejections? Here are a few things to keep in mind: 1. If you do not know what you want in terms of the scholarship and/or the specific country you are interested in, take some time to figure it out ASAP. 2. Understand the scholarship criteria, and requirements, as well as its mission and goals. 3. Create a comprehensive CV highlighting your achievements, awards, honors, etc. *Do not just tell but SHOW: focus on providing concrete examples and quantifiable achievements rather than just listing skills or qualities. Eg. Instead of saying "excellent communication skills," you might write "Presented research findings at three international conferences, receiving positive feedback from peers and experts." *Demonstrate impact and contribution. E.g. Discuss any community service, clubs, organizations, or conferences that show your commitment to making a positive impact in your community or field of study. 4. Prepare a strong personal statement that showcases your strengths and experiences. *Emphasize why you’re an excellent fit for the scholarship and how receiving the scholarship will help you reach your objectives. *Make sure your statement is aligned with the mission and goals of the scholarship. *Be authentic, passionate, and specific. * Try to avoid generic statements. 5. Seek strong Letters of recommendation. *Choose recommenders who know you well and can speak to your abilities. *Provide them with specific information about the scholarship and your achievements. *Choose the most appropriate ones. (Again, double-check for generic statements as they are vague). E.g. Choose the ones with specific examples, quantifiable achievements, and personalized insights into your skills, character, and potential contributions. 6. Tailor your application to each Scholarship. * Customize your application for each scholarship opportunity. 7. Use AI tools to search for scholarships. *Consider following creators like Faheem Ullah and others. 8. Apply for multiple scholarships until you succeed. * Never give up. Remember, we learn by taking action! Good luck with your scholarship applications! #Scholarship

Global Learning: My Journey at the Korea University International Summer Course 2022 "Mass Media and Popular Culture in Korea" by Prof. Jihoon Park was the course I took when I had the opportunity to participate in the Korea University International Summer Course. We had a lot of complex yet fun-to-discuss lesson materials, such as Sexuality and Media, Gender and Korean Media, Broadcasting History, K-Pop, the Korean Wave, and many more. I found it interesting to study sexual minorities from the perspective of South Korea. Despite balancing traditional and modern cultures, Korean society remains largely closed to this issue. Another interesting topic was the history of the Korean government with various presidents, each with distinctive leadership styles. The advancement of the media and the civilization of Korea seemed to depend significantly on who the country's leader was at the time. The development of popular culture and the K-Wave phenomenon were also fascinating subjects covered in this class. Some assignments were intriguing, such as essays on what attracted us to K-Pop culture and group presentation projects for final assessments. I had the chance to collaborate with two other participants, both from China—one studying in China and the other in Australia. I suggested covering the topic of hegemonic masculinity in Korean films, specifically examining the actor Ma Dong-seok, who significantly differs from the standard masculinity in Korea. My two teammates agreed to discuss this topic further, and we received praise not only from the professor but also from other course participants. I am grateful to have completed this course with full responsibility and received a satisfying final grade. Moreover, I appreciate the opportunity to discuss and exchange views with participants from diverse educational and life backgrounds. Although I could only take the online course in 2022, I was finally given the opportunity to visit Korea University in person in 2024. It took me two years to finally be at Korea University, touring the campus and experiencing the excitement of campus life abroad. I intend to make the most of this opportunity and I would like to express my deepest gratitude to the TELADAN team of the Tanoto Foundation. Thank you! #KoreaUniversity #SumerCourse #MassMediainKorea #PopularCultureinKorea #SouthKorea #TELADAN #TanotoFoundation

Sometimes, the problems we face can completely stop us from achieving our goals. This is especially true for students in Africa, who are faced with financial constraints, a lack of resources and opportunities, among other challenges. Must we always let our problems stop us from achieving excellence? Why must we let our struggles hinder our ability to innovate and come up with wonderful initiatives? But how does one ignore all their struggles? How are students supposed to remain focused and pursue their dreams amidst all the suffering they may be going through? Any advice? #mentorship #science #research #career #Africa #STEM #students

Embarking on the KHOJ at Navrachana University has been nothing short of an illuminating odyssey! 🚀 As a student, delving into the depths of our social immersion project with the captivating theme 'Subject Wellbeing of Institutionalized and Non-Institutionalized Elderly' has been an intellectually invigorating experience. Our journey wasn't just about conducting research; it was a profound exploration into the lives of the elderly, understanding the intricate web of factors that contribute to their wellbeing. Collaborating with my exceptional group, we navigated through challenges, shared insights, and collectively sought to make a meaningful impact. The exhibition isn't merely a showcase of our project; it's a testament to the countless lessons learned. We discovered the resilience of the human spirit in the face of adversity, the power of empathy in bridging generational gaps, and the importance of community in fostering wellbeing. I am immensely grateful for the opportunity to contribute to a cause that transcends academia—a cause that touches the very fabric of our society. This project has not only sharpened my research skills but has also instilled in me a profound appreciation for the nuances of human connection and the social responsibilities we carry as future leaders. As I stand beside my group in the captured moment, it's more than a photo; it's a snapshot of growth, camaraderie, and shared dedication. Here's to the lessons learned, the connections made, and the profound impact that goes beyond the confines of a classroom. #KHOJProject #SocialImmersion #ResearchJourney #NavrachanaUniversity
